What is my idea of meditation. We pray for help and understanding. Then, we have to listen for an answer. Listening to God and Spirit is the art of meditation.

To meditate requires peace with oneself but how can you find it when you constantly have someone hanging over your should , i cannot find peace in the day not to mention peace with myself

Everyone deserves to have a little time to themselves. You may even find it by saying your going to rest for a while. In a 24 hour day we can always find some time for God. He gives us life. We would not be able to exist if it were not for God. Say that God decided: "I don't have enough time for you." Well then you would just die on the spot. Start finding a little peace by going outside for a walk and then sitting on a park bench and meditate a little. While going to get groceries or picking up the kids leave a little early then stop in an area where it is quiet and meditate a little. Where there is a will there is a way. We have gotten ourselves into this routine of craziness now we have to find a way out.

Hi All,

I am a new member to this forum.

Just would like to share my view on meditation. Meditation is fixing our mind only on god with loving devotion (without allowing mind to wander with the unnecessary thoughts). Might be difficult in beginning as is for any new task in our life, but with practice meditation is the best thing ever discovered by a human. I can not think of anything else that would take us away from this worldly worries so easily and  helps us to get closure to our real source of existence (the loving father - god).

I am still a beginner in meditation, still trying to fix my mind on god which seems to be a tough task, but I love the idea of meditation so much. Can anyone share any thoughts on how you struggled in the beginning and succeeded with it.

Currently I am facing a problem in my life where my job is taking too much of time and mind is full of it's worries. It's too hard to concentrate on god. But how can I succeed in the task which I love so much. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

... Hari

Do you already try to put God into your service and work situations? There are lessons and experiences that help us grow spiritually in our service. God will start to show you those. While it may take time to effectively concentrate on God, meanwhile we can still think of him/her until our practice and concentration becomes deeper. i have found as a beginner (and after many years) in meditation that it is important to keep in touch with like minded souls. We appreciate your interest here and are so glad you decided to join us in our search. i had been attempting to sit in the silence for years. i think it is important to get some techniques that can help you go inside deeper. If you are more interested i will point you to some. Although you know doubt can do this with out my help.

I think the gap is right there Steve, I am still unable to put God into my work situations completely. That means, when I work, I still don't remember him unless for few seconds. Any idea how can we practice his presence throughout the busy work schedule.

I am a lesson member in YSS/SRF practicing hong-sau and OM techniques. I find them useful in the long term. Still not into Kriya, but would like to take it soon.

Nomaste

i think i get it. You are saying that there is connection between our inner and outer life when we make the effort to bridge the gap. i think the point you made about a feedback loop is true. It helps. Although God has not made our life a spiritual circus. So many times we must stand on our own two feet and develop faith. Like a child who recieves too many toys and becomes spoiled, likewise we are not given to many spiritual expereinces that might spoil us if we need character work and stronger faith.

It is a strange thing this practice. It is somewhat like practicing an instrument or going to school at first. You have to put your mind to it. You have to use what ever reminders you can. You have little cards around you to remind you. You can have pictures of saints around to remind you. You can talk to friends that will remind you. we have to reminded constantly and put ourselves in environmental situations that reinforce such behavior. After a while we find the reminders coming up in our own thoughts. We remember and get ques from our own thoughts and practice. It is in this way that we take small steps towards thinkin of that higher consciousness at all times and bringing that vibration into our lives.

An SRF CD may be of interest... "Self-Realization: The Inner and the Outer Path
"An informal talk by Paramahansa Yogananda, Collector's Series No. 5"

***************

Let's catch ourselves throughout our Outer Path (work / job / shopping / family) -- When and where noise is noticed, we may STRIVE thru a simple act...  BREATHE...   breath in deep in a complete breath... and put the focus mentally (and physically if possible) into the spiritual eye / the sensoium...  use your personal mantra... (i.e. - God, Christ, Gurus)  (i.e. - Peace) (i.e.- Angels are with us) (i.e.- whatever...)   the key is we will connect (thru this simple act) one end of the spectrum (restless) to our state closest to the other end of the spectrum (peace, bliss).     And as we strive like this again and again, the moments blend...  soon the state is less divided... spectrum shifts...  soon simply flowing in a continuous moment of striving and ever new bliss...

Humbly,
namaste

AUM Peace AMEN
God Christ Gurus
[/color]

'Let us strive in our outer path thru a simple act: breath and the moments blend' .... Now the colors are blending is the sky gently moving? Let the master of the mystery be your guide in watching the breath and connecting with that inner life.... Steve

I love it when the colors blend with the music, as I surrender to the master of the mystery as he guides me on my journey. Sometimes I get so caught up in the moment , it takes my breath away. Just breathe.......

Simply put... meditation is listening to God and prayer is talking to God. However, since this thread was created we know that meditation is now being used at hospitals for the relief of pain. It is a great method of learning how to focus our attention. It gives us access to inner peace, talents and intuition. Meditation gives us a way to see ourselves as others see us and not as we imagine we see ourselves. It also can give us an ability to manifest much more of what we are but as yet do not recognize. It can help our health. It can help us release bad habits. Meditation gives us access to our spiritual and creative reserves. Meditation helps us be happy because it brings peace, love and bliss.

Steve I got to meditate today! This last month has felt like a real dampener on my energy levels- and today it feels like a switch had been flipped- or the chains taken off! I am feeling extremely grateful, although I know the nature of life is flux- but what a joy, and I included you in my prayers in the beginning of meditation! Ah I truly missed this aspect of ME  Cheesy a me I hardly know- but a communion I thoroughly enjoy!

My kind regards

Eric thanks for the prayer as you know I pray for you and everyone that comes here. I woke up this morning wanting to practice music for bands but it was so quiet that I thought it better to start the day out with meditation. The silence is best to take advantage of when you can. It is short and as soon as the sun comes up cars and people are busy on the street.
