Yes Si when I drove a truck for a living if I missed one of those ‘signs’ a cop 👮‍♀️ could stop me and say ‘you didn’t follow the signs.’ So the signs are important. But there were times I also was just ‘cruising’!

Every breath and glimpse could be a sign. You could spend so much time in that instant trying to figure out what the sign means then another comes a second later, you would never get caught up.

Not staying on topic again, my signs are much more quick rapid fire than a few signs on a freeway.

Joni Mitchell’s take on the crow brings a light tog her own to the dark creature….

“And diving, diving, diving, diving
Diving down to pick up on every shining thing
Just like that black crow flying
In a blue sky”

There's a crow flying
Black and ragged
Tree to tree
He's black as the highway that's leading me
Now he's diving down
To pick up on something shiny
I feel like that black crow
Flying
In a blue sky

I took a ferry to the highway
Then I drove to a pontoon plane
I took a plane to a taxi
And a taxi to a train
I've been traveling so long
How am I ever going to know my home
When I see it again
I'm like a black crow flying
In a blue, blue sky

In search of love and music
My whole life has been
Illumination
Corruption
And diving, diving, diving, diving
Diving down to pick up on every shining thing
Just like that black crow flying
In a blue sky

I looked at the morning
After being up all night
I looked at my haggard face in the bathroom light
I looked out the window
And I, I saw that ragged soul take flight
I saw a back crow flying
In a blue sky

Ooh, I'm like a black crow flying
In a blue sky

Crows can easily become life long friends.

They're very smart, you could try talking to one. They're also very protective/family oriented.

Today I witnessed something very cool, a rather large hawk was scoping out a particular area above head and suddenly I heard the crow making a unique call. He was just a bit shorter than the hawk and was attempting to push him away. I can only assume there must have been a nest nearby.

What was cool about this was, the crow was continually making a unique noise to ward off this predator bird when suddenly another crow came out of no where and joined in on making intimidating calls. Then, as if to respond to the call for help- two more crows made a caw and joined in to assist the others in shooing away this hungry hawk.

In total 4-5 full-sized crows emerged out of no-where to defend their territory and protect their family.

I was quite impressed.

So what do you think? Am I gullible or is that crow in the last link really talking?

I like that the pet crow has a ‘love/hate relationship with the cat and dog.’

hi steve. the crow is an extremely intelligent bird with strong family ties.

always nice to listen to the birds chatter. =)

Decided to put this here and read up on the crow above. Yea. Sometimes it seems like they really have a message they are compelled to tell us ... especially when they insist on being nearby and quite loud.

Today while meditating I heard a crow talking to another crow at a distance. One crow was near me up in a tree and he was talking to a crow out there at a distance  The crow that was near me started flying away and I heard his voice slightly lower and lower as it approached the other crow. Very interesting communication! 'Hey I'm out here. Do u hear me?'

Yesterday I received such a loud message from our friend the crow.

I suppose I was as ‘crafty as a crow’ Im getting some of my musical equipment back that some so called friends had in their house. When I was putting the equipment in the trailer and car a large crow looked at me from high up in an empty tree and squawked away in the unseasonably warm winter sky.

—————————————————________________________________________________

"Crafty as a crow" means clever, cunning, and skillful at finding solutions or getting what they want, often using intelligence and subtle methods, reflecting the real-life intelligence of crows known for tool use (like making hooks from twigs), problem-solving (dropping nuts in traffic), and complex social behaviors like holding grudges and recognizing faces. It highlights their sharp intellect, adaptability, and sometimes deceptive, trickster-like qualities seen in folklore.
Key aspects of crow craftiness:
Tool Use: Crows create and use tools, like shaping twigs to fish for insects, a behavior once thought unique to humans.
Problem Solving: They drop nuts on roads for cars to crack, waiting for crosswalk lights to ensure safety, showing planning.
Deception & Strategy: They distract other animals to steal food or follow predators to scavenge, demonstrating complex tactics.
Memory & Grudges: Crows remember faces, especially mean ones, and pass this knowledge to others, holding grudges for generations.
In folklore & symbolism:
Trickster Figures: Crows often appear as mischievous tricksters in myths, similar to coyotes in Native American stories.
Wisdom & Omens: They are linked to wisdom (like Odin's ravens) but also seen as messengers of death or fate in other traditions.
Essentially, calling someone "crafty as a crow" praises their sharp, resourceful intelligence, especially when they outsmart situations or others.

‘Crafty as a crow? That should definitely be a saying! Crows will tail other birds to find their nests, work together to distract another animal so they can steal its food, and even make and use tools.’
