Is this the right section? I don't know but I wanted to post a peculiar ki9nd of music which is reminiscent of the cosmic phases of growing and retreating cosmos.
Rudresh Mahantappa is an Indian-American jazz alto saxophonist who created a unique mix of jazz and carnatic music (Southern Indian).
He issued a recent album, called SAMDHI. samdhi in the Scriptures is the time lapsing between the termination of a universe and the creation of a new one, as he explains in some other vid.
The 'killer' piece from this album is musically complexm suggestng the powerfully tireless energy of God, creating and destroying whole universes.

Mccoy ... i believe this may be a better section. It is called 'sound minds' for those who are working toward achieving them. All you need to do is click the thread 'Samhdhi Album' to see the video that is already embedded. i see you must just look at recent posts at the bottom of the forum. If you click those threads there may be more available to you and everyone else interested. However; if you just click recent posts you will not see the video....just the link info.

Listening from a musicians view; i would be interested to know the scale he is playing throughout the piece. It is definitely eastern sounding.

Steve, imagien that I wasn't even able to suss out the rythm. At times it seems a 9/8, but maybe there is some measure with even time to make it not so simple.

Mahanthappa has received wide acclaims even from Indian musicians of classic carnatic music, so he sure uses elaborations of Southern Indian scales which are suited to the kind of jazz he plays (composed by himself).

I too would be interested to use those scales but have not much clue.
