Steve, imagien that I wasn't even able to suss out the rythm. At times it seems a 9/8, but maybe there is some measure with even time to make it not so simple.

Mahanthappa has received wide acclaims even from Indian musicians of classic carnatic music, so he sure uses elaborations of Southern Indian scales which are suited to the kind of jazz he plays (composed by himself).

I too would be interested to use those scales but have not much clue.
