Steve, how do you remember your dreams so clearly? I can only remember them as soon as I wake up, then they are all forgotten.
Most of them are not so clear. But some of them are and I have to train myself to keep my mind on the dream upon awakening and then get write ✍️ to a piece of paper or the computer and attempt to recall all the details before other thoughts clamor in and destroy the dreams details. The subconscious mind has a tendency to close itself off from the conscious mind or it can be seen as conversely; the conscious mind closes off subconscious memories.
I believe that some of memory recall has come out of frustration. That is I dream of music quite often and it is music I’ve never heard of before. I really have a desire to remember it because it was retrieved from a deep repository that gives us creative ideas, whether musical, scientific or otherwise. It is quite frustrating, for instance, if I hear a totally original keyboard part, which I did about a month ago. I thought I hummed it, on a recording before I played it that morning. But a week or so I went back and could not find the recording. It is out of frustration and deceptive thoughts that make us doubly more alert if such inspirations arise again.
