Silence and Stillness

There is a difference between silence and stillness. Silence should be an attempt to find and experience peace. Stillness is achieved through silent meditation. Stillness quiets not only the atmosphere around us but also the inner thoughts and the bodies relentless noise. The body and mind keeps us restless and unable to experience the deeper states of bliss and love when we are in communion with soul awareness and spiritual ecstasy.

Without experiencing stillness and quietude from meditation and periods of silent reflection the body and mind becomes a helpless vehicle of outside influences.

It is amazing to me how the mind operates. All summer it has been difficult for me to find a silent place to meditate.  And finally the divine has arranged to give me a place to meditate in silence. But the mind says to me ‘you are alone, doesn’t it feel lonely?’ I then realize the minds tricks and how the mind can play tricks on us.

At that point I’m able to be grateful and sit in silence listening to my breath which has been difficult for so long, while practicing a mantra.
