Perhaps it is the blessings and wisdom of Sri Yukteswar today as it is his Mahasamadhi celebration, but I seem to get a better glimpse into myself today and wanted to express it here:
I have respect for your path Eric and I find it inspiring at times. I see nothing wrong with learning and growing through a comparison of spiritual experiences and practices. I also find that we have become more aware of political and social realities through our interactions. I do not see it as a deterrence to our spiritual progress if it is kept in perspective. I will admit that at times the intensity of it is such that it is best to refocus on the most important part of our spiritual life and quest: If we find that we have too many distractions and differences. There are enough similarities and higher levels of communication that have made our friendship last, which I sincerely appreciate and hope to keep cultivating over and beyond everything else.
I suppose there is a balance in everything and your ability to ignore my social and political views when they may be out of balance only increases my respect for your views. It is very difficult for people to see themselves like others see them. And I will admit that my views may need balance with other facets of life. I have noticed that many people get out of balance with their views, and I see this as a reflection of my own imbalances. We are mirrored in our associations and interactions with those we come in contact with. Unless we are perfectly balanced as a Master would display, we no doubt will be presented with similar unbalanced perspectives in our lives.
