Apart from total lock-downs, in this country, you weren't allowed to go to a public facility, to school, or to travel on public transport without a valid vaccination pass, nor go to a public restaurant and many stores (decision at the discretion of the owners of the stores, restaurants). International travel was restricted to showing a valid vaccination status for many months. Hospitals and homes for the elderly of course, were even more restricted. In most of these, short-tests were necessary on top of a valid vaccination-pass to enter at all. Wearing a mask (in some cases an N-95 one) applied to all situations above...
Stronger restrictions applied for public care and health workers. They were forced by the government to either be vaxxed, or loose their jobs.
And yes, I took the vax 3 times because otherwise no social life would have been possible at all, not even with my partner (pharmacist) or my kids (social workers).
So yes, Steve the vax-mandates have worked, and worldwide billions of mrna-shots were delivered.
Same in Italy and, I believe, most European countries.
After having had willingly my first two shots, I was compelled (without much freedom of choice) to have a third. Otherwise, I would have been suspended from my job with no salary, for an undetermined length of time. Also, like Uwe said, no social life was possible. On top of it, it was not very easy to get the shots because everyone was in line for it and I barely was in time before the suspension from salary. And, with my two shots, I was treated like an anti-vaxxer with zero shots!
What made me even more upset, was the fact that my son, although having had two vaccinations and having been infected twice by the natural virus, had to take a third shot, against every conceivable scientific evidence that natural virus plus 2 shots made you highly immune.
By the way, my son is autistic and extra shots might have made him more irritable and aggressive.
I was so supremely irritated by this anti-scientific, incompetent, and dictatorial behavior of my former government, that my satisfaction was great when it crumbled down, having had personally a role (although negligible) in its demise by voting for the opposition.
