Intereststs; Meditation/Spiritual Life

Hey Si I wonder if delivery is part of the issue in speech? Not that anyone wants to censor a person but rather can I as a person deliver a message with kindness? Or will I be an expression of anger and frustration? Do you see my point here? People may deliver any message they choose and in any manner. What leads to a spiritual state of consciousness? That is my concern for myself and who I choose as friends and associates. I am not by any means saying I’m right. However I doubt that messages expressed with visible anger will lead to enlightenment. We can see enlightenment and feel it in a person experiencing even beginning stages of it in their art and creative expression. If we feel inspired to meditate and be kind to others we are promoting spiritual practice. If we listen to someone who appears about ready to have a stroke or heart attack it is not a recipe for spiritual evolution. Perhaps it may be for someone else. Let them go their own way and see if it works for them. I’m much more impressed by a person who can show peace and I can actually feel their peace and kindness.

So I have to constantly be observant in my own frustration and repressed anger. It affects my consciousness and meditative experiences. That’s the bottom line for me. I have set guidelines up for that kind of behavior for myself and others here as I have observed the guidelines at for instance a monastery I lived at for years. I have seen people not able to live by such guidelines because that has been me as well. I’m just attempting to be a better person in all my behavioral quirks and recognize many of my mistakes while attempting to correct them. When I see other people reforming themselves I’m also inspired to do the same.

I want to give an example here that I hope will illustrate my point. I used to go to Friday nite meditation at the Hollywood Temple. Every Friday nite the whole temple would almost fill up with people meditating for three hours. One nite as I was setting peaceful and actually felt the tranquility of meditation, someone entered the temple and ran down the aisle shouting; ‘ Jesus Saves…you need to be saved by Jesus.’ Well let me tell you all the peace I felt suddenly left me and I was startled 😱 and the rest of the meditation was quite disturbed. After that there was a guard posted at the doors so no one could enter during service accept during an hourly break when anyone could leave during devotional chanting. There had to be someone to monitor the chapel after that because of intruders who really were not accustomed to meditating and disrupted the whole service. Paramahansa Yogananda recommended ‘building a hedge around our peace’ to help it grow and so I’ve attempted to avoid loud, blatantly clamorous, and at times very disturbing 😳 energies.
