Ben plays sax with no effects. Very unusual. His improv is right on; after the noodling he’s right back in the melody. And his pitch impeccable. That’s why he is able to record like that. Only 30 listens??? It’s very raw talent with no processors to hide anything and therefore admirable from a musicians point of you, Very transparent and nothing to hide any  non existing flaws. However, perhaps from a young audience used to what can be done to the final production? Far different than say a recording by George Micheal who I think has an excellent voice and say his sax player on Careless Whispers. Totally electronically manufactured. But then again that’s a whole different medium. Having heard your opinion of something I did makes me a bit slow to an appraisal beyond that. I have had raw recordings also. You have to take it for what what it is is and the medium it exemplifies. Certainly the sound of processed electronically generated Black Sabbath sound; is going to be incredibly different… then a raw folk rock sound original we practiced in the back room or for that matter a group of recognized rehearsing artists we all recognize in rehearsal!

I at one time , much younger then , evaluated Dylan on his poor voice, but now I recognize I missed the point…. That was the content and message along with the memorable message and unusual style and personality of for instance a Willie Nelson or a Bob Dylan. We become more appreciative and see things more clear as we grow in awareness. That’s my take on it. I don’t expect anyone else to have to agree. These recordings below illustrate my points above….
