I'm still highly fascinated by this peculiar object of God's creation. It is something that seems to be the invention of hard science fiction. yet, it's true.

When the star's core implodes to form a black hole, we really don't know what happens to that matter. The mathematical singularity derived from Einstein's equation gives us absolutely no information about what happens within the BH, inside the event horizon.

As far as I've understood, we may even say there is no more mass, there are the effects of a huge mass, but what's inside a black hole is a monstrous amount of energy, caused by the warping of timespace itself.

So, the mass of the star, its material, disappears, a wrinkle, or vortex in time space is created, the energy required to create this warp is what keeps spacetime deformed, in the same manner as a concentrated amount of mass.

One of the consequences is that, should a spaceship travel alongside a blackhole, it would lengthen its route, traveling along another dimension, the hyperspace created by the warp in timespace.

Last and most incredible, is that this traveling along another dimension has already been observed, when calculating the time it took to the latest probe around Mars to return to earth. The time was a tiny bit longer than expected (in relation to teh known distance), due to the fact that the distance itself was stretched by the distortion caused by Mar's mass, distortion which elongates the distance but not in our dimension.

I know it's not very clear, but it took to me a few hours of reasoning to understand the principle.

And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
