The Spiritual Origins of Character and Personality Traits; Rajasic Tamasic and Satvic. I have taken more of an interest in the three gunas as I have found people fitting into such qualities. Often those who do not express a spiritual yearning and motivation fall into lapses of Tamasic enertia.

Paramahansa Yogananda has stated that even to lift a finger requires an act of will. And so it is better to be Rajasic then Tamasic . Since we are at the very least expressing Rajasic or activating forces.

Sanskrit Tapas (Spiritual)
Meaning: Originates from the root tap ("to be hot"), referring to the fire of self-discipline, meditation, and austerity in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. It is one of the Niyamas (observances) in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras.
Usage Examples:

Physical: Practicing yoga postures, pranayama, or maintaining a specific diet to purify the body.
Mental: Deep meditation, silence, or restraining urges to cultivate focus and inner strength.
Synonyms: Austerity, self-discipline, asceticism, penance, spiritual fire, purification.
