Intereststs; Meditation/Spiritual Life

« on: Dec 08, 2009 11:34 pm »

Thanks Jitendra...  good flow..

I'm considering that these little minute nuances of how we practice our meditation -- how we have the direct experience, and best recreate the atmosphere to re-experience the depth or peace, etc...   well, that's real hard to communicate... and for good reason...

But I believe the key may be in the concept of metaphysical magnetism...  in that minute conceptual, esoteric detail of the "how"... seems there are often positive, neutral, and negative...   I suspect we are dancing allusively around the edge of the concept of how our consciousness is equally of earth, water, fire, air, ether (for good and bad)...  and then from time to time they harmonize, and we drift more fully up to the Soul and Spirit centers...  wheels and wheels in a grand array...

Focus too hard, we are not relaxed, not letting it flow...   Not enough Focus, and the intensity / vibration remains unchanged...

What about when we've been "practicing" for hour or more, and we transition to moving about?    If we are absent minded, does that mean we may need to watch our entire flow of life, to see that we are not building one end of the magnet too much...  seems the greatest wonders come in how the human and divine experiences begin to interweave so subtle...  largely so unobservable by others...     So if we are overly absentminded from time to time, does that help us cognize something we may improve?... I'm just not sure... or possibly just our nature shifting towards being more "interior" creatures...Huh?     It does seem (in observation of myself) that we must "equally expand" to be both sharp in "waking, active" state, as we are in "meditative metaphysical diving" -- and somewhere in-between those poles the neutral is experienced in the flow.

But it's not really so crystal clear to me whether these "absent minded episodes" are signs of "lack of mindfulless" or maybe it's just the way it is from time to time (the way this incarnation is gonna be for some of us)...   Hey, keys get misplaced from time to time for a reason (delay us to miss an accident... or to work at organizing while searching for them)... who knows...  suppose like they say, "How does it impact your spiritual (and other parts) of life?"... "Does it contribute to a more fully conscious, God aware, communing "devotee"? "   Maybe best not to dwell, unless seems it's an obscuring pattern in our life/path... then we may need to ask monastics to help us figure it out?

i have read this entry several times. i have changed its location in an attempt to show that that awareness is not only part of the practice of meditation but can become the experience of 'miraculous' occasions as i have experienced and Nomaste has related in the story of 'Lemonade'. i suppose we can never be certain of anything on our path upwards and onward. This takes away some of the black and white categories that our mind likes to shelve things into. i suppose a more scientific way of looking at it would be that we observe certain probabilities over a time though this should not be taken as a hard and fast statement. What was true in one situation and was used in a point of decision making may not hold to be the same in a different setting with all of the seemingly same set ups and props. On this spiritual path we find that our conceptions of reality are breaking down and after so many 'coincidences' happening we begin to understand that it is not just our imagination. There are many things small and large that go beyond most peoples limited understanding for our daily lives. After a time we become more receptive and aware of their occurances.

i was moving things in and out from the van into a music shop. At one point i noticed that a set of keys to the van and the shop had disapeared or was misplaced. i had a little key box that i put them in which was lying on the counter in the shop. i checked it several times. The reason being that i have had some very strange experiences with things disapearing in places that i put them and after checking back repeatedly they seem to reappear. So this time i wanted to make certain that they were not in the key box. i literally shook the key box and opened it more that 5 times and have no doubt that they were not there. You see the interesting thing is that no one knows about these keys and what there function is. Furthermore i had checked the key case repeatedly several days in a row and had looked everywhere i could think of for them.

After several days had passed i was taking care of some things on the counter and lifted the key case. i heard something in the case when i lifted it. i opened it and there were the keys. Sometimes i truly believe that having a guru in your life (or angels and other conceptions of guidance and protection) breaks down your conception of reality as you know it. Small little miraculous things can happen around us that we are only dimly aware of until we actually make a conscious effort to expand our awareness. Thanks for bringing up this subject Namaste2All. It has brought my attention to the fact that we need to be constantly vigilant of what is happening around us. It seems that God wants us to be aware as much as possible and in this awareness we may suddenly percieve a miracle in the smallest of ways. These little ways may in fact have quite an impact on the larger picture around us.

I'm sneaking this under the above thread about how subtle the divine and human dance together... and that is the wonder, and grace of the communion... jai guru...

THE LEMONADE STORY --
This occurred in the past 20 years...  There is a monastic that was pouring lemonade for a large group of devotees...  one devotee spotted a dilema and thought, "oh how can they let him run out?" -- and was feeling sad that so few half gallons had been available... and indeed he observed soon they were all tipped over empty into the pitchers...  well, of all the people present only one other devotee seemed to take any notice... and he gazed and followed the monastic...   many months later the two devotees met again, and they happened to discuss the "lemonade" day...   Short Story is... the one devotee focused on the empty cartons, while the other focused on the monastic and his picture and pouring... seperately, they were not able to cognize it in the moment... but later and together the realization flowed (as they also removed the last thread of doubt through their combined observations)... The monastic had a bottomless pitcher...  he would pour, never emptying it completly... and he would move around, and poor again...  the devotee said, he was getting lemonade from another dimension or something... it just wasn't possible that he could serve that many...

and they smiled and felt blessed for the simple miricle they observed...   but the strongest impression for both was this deep sense of love welling over them as they recalled the moment -- they shared to each other how the monastic was just full of love in serving the devotees -- each both could recall a single, vivid moment when they caught sight of the monastic, and how it just crystalized into them... suppose it was because of the monastics love that the miricle occurred...  he was humbly serving God in all those devotees...     (I've heard of a couple of other miricles about that monastic as well -- each so very subtle... only one or a few witnessed... and each time it was an act of great love and compassion at the core of the act...)

makes one wonder how many angels and saints dance across our lives un-noticed...  and how we may in Gods love and compassion touch others in subtle ways plain and grand...  something to think about ?

Love and Peace...

Steve & Namaste,

It seems there are miracles all around, some small, some large and like it has already been mentioned, the more we are 'aware' or tuned into God and the possibilities of these miracles happening, the more likely they will happen more often.

Namaste, your story about the Lemonade was very interesting, it reminded me of the Loaves & Fishes story, and how there were so many people and not enough food to go around, but somehow ' a miracle ' happened and there was plenty. Also reminds me of a glass partially filled with liquid/ lemonade if one so chooses. Some people look at the glass as half empty, others look at the glass as half full. All a matter of perception of life.

Steve, a most unusual experience with the lost keys and then the ' miracle ' of them appearing. Sounds to me like more was involved here than absentmindedness or just forgetfulness of where the keys were placed, especially when you kept looking in the same place, finding nothing, then suddenly there they were. Perhaps some mischevious angelic intervention ? for whatever reason, a message somewhere hidden behind this happening ?
