Amma and Texting

Amma warned devotees not to spend too much time on cell phones texting. I don’t think she was against texting but rather it’s  interference with spiritual practice. There’s nothing wrong with talking and texting unless it interferes with Spiritual practice and meditation.

Recently I have broken the chains of texting that stop me thinking and meditating upon awakening. It is the best time to meditate for me because the mind is settled just coming out of the relaxed state of sleep and not being inundated with the activities of the day. It is also quiet in the surrounding atmosphere at that time of day.

Just as Brother Turiyananda warned against endless distractions so Amma has done the same.

Texting and consulting are OK, until you spend unnecessary time on them. Especially so ladies, sometimes thsy seem not to be able to get off the chats. And young boys and girls, are straight addicts.
