Miracle of Master's Crypt and the Pepper Tree

i recently was in the desert of Arizona and found out that the Hopi Indians live on a reservation about a half hour from highway 40. For reasons that later seemed evident i lost my little Indian pouch that had 20 dollars in it. A friend of mine told me this might have happened for a reason. My plans were to go via Pheonix and go to the SRF temple there after visiting the Hopi Indians and hopefully find an Indian Medicine man/Shaman in the desert. But loosing the Indian pouch seemed like a bad omen. As a result of this i decided to scrap the idea and go straight to Los Angeles which i was planning to do eventually anyhow. When i got to Los Angeles i went to Forest Lawn to visit Master's crypt. i went to Mount Washington to meditate under the pepper tree the next day (the Temple of Leaves). i also decided to get my tires checked and found out one of them was frayed and the radial wire was showing through. (Good time to drive out in the desert.) Lastly, i could not find my blood pressure pills so i started taking my blood pressure after i arrived in L.A. and visited the holy sites. I was also thinking that i must see a doctor soon.

While at Forest Lawn cemetary i listened to one of the ladies, who was a hostess for the cemetary. She told me about a miracle that happened in her life that involved a healing for her daughter. She said her daughter was only a year old and the doctors told her she would soon die because of brain problems. She went to a saint that was healing people at the time. She waited in line and when she got to the front of the line the saint asked her about her daughters condition and then layed his hands on her daughters head. The woman explained that she knew the girl was healed so she went in one of the gardens around the church. While she was there she thought to herself: I would like to do something for these monks here at this catholic monastery because I know my daughter is healed and I would like to do something for them. As she thought this a young handsome man with a radiant white robe and tassle around it came down the hill towards her and explained: You can help us; come to our manastery on Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. It was as if he had read her mind.

She went home to tell her husband and he said: 'I will not have you going to that place with the car and you will not go there and help those monks'. Sometime later she went back to the manastery and told one of the monks about what her husband had said and about the young man in the radiant robe that read her mind. The monk explained that there was no man, nor had there been any man with that description at the monastery but that sometimes the saint had 'angel helpers' in his absence. He also said to her that she had obeyed her husband (remember this was over 40 years ago) and her intentions were good. Her daughter is now 43 years old and fine.

This woman also explained to me that she knew someone that had worked at Forest Lawn Cemetary when Paramahansa Yogananda was living. This woman had told her  (Lenora; she still serves at Forest Lawn near Masters' crypt on Mondays.) that the Master had requested to be put behind glass for as long as state law would allow before entombing him. He was an 'incorruptable' the woman expained to me. i asked her where she had come up with that word. She said that there was a book out about the incorruptables and often saints were dug up to see if their bodies had corrupted with decay. This was a way of knowing about their sainthood.

i wondered what that story was all about and if it had significance for me. Later that week i went to a SRF service that had a lecture about the miracles of Jesus, i heard the miracle that had happened to the lady at Forest Lawn and now i have found my blood pressure pills but no longer need them. So where is Paramahansaji's sense of humor? He knows that i have a hard time keeping track of things so he purposely played a joke on me by taking away my Indian pouch and my blood pressure pills. He also gave me two lectures on miracles. i hope you remember that the name given to me by a saint is 'Jitendra' and we all know about his doubt when it came to miracles. (see the story of 'Jitendra' in 'The Autobiography of a Yogi')

That week i misplaced my meds for high blood pressure. i noticed that my blood pressure had not gone up when i checked it. Weeks now have passed and my blood pressure this morning was 134 over 72. Quite an improvement over as high as 160 over 108! For years I have had high blood pressure. i told a friend of mine of the miracle of being on Holy grounds and its effect on my blood pressure. She said that my (whole) life was a miracle. i am like Mr. Magoo who drives off a cliff and ends up on a scaffolding that is gently dropped to the ground.

May you too gain more confidence in the miracles that our guru can give you in your life...Gurus blessings..... Jai Guru

I feel a tingling touch on my shoulder, just reading the quote by Yogananda, truly majical.

And I do like your spelling of the word " majical ", something quite unique & charming about it.
I will now associate  *majical* with Yogananda

Yes i wanted to relay another miracle that happened to me recently. i had a cataract i one eye and saw nothing but darkness in that eye. i was told that surgery would be well over 2,500 dollars and that another cataract was developing in my other eye. At the time i had no health insurance or maney to pay such bills. The county said i do not qulify for help. Several months later i was told by the county that a program had opened up that could help me with the operations. It was all payed for by the county and now i can see! i think God has mysterious ways of helping those who think of him.

The saint that was spoken of at Forest Lawn was; Father Aloysius Ellacuria, C.M.F. who was staying at the Claretion Center in Los Angeles. Leonora told me this. She serves at the Mosoleum where Yogananda's body rests. She is the one that had her daughter healed in my story.

i talked with her today since she works Mondays. She told me about the Crypt where Micheal Jackson lays which is in the same building where Yogananda is. She said that people come all over the world to see Jackson's burial place but it is denied to them. They come with flowers and try to sneak in the area where he is placed. This has been putting a lot of stress on Forest Lawn.

i told Leonora about 'my' miracle and she said that it was because i was focused and emptied my thoughts that i recieved such a blessing. It seems that she had some spiritual insights of her own. She gave me an article about Padre Pio which i read right after being there a good part of the afternoon and wondering (worrying?) if i should not get back to 'my business'. In the article Padre Pio councils us to show the sincerity of our trust by working hard at not worrying. "It's a big order. We tend to push the panic button, to look at the things that can go wrong. We worry like mad." (Father Apostoli)

And worry may signal that we're trying to take control of matters that belong to God. "if I really believe God does love me and truly will take care of me. I should not worry," concludes Father Apostoli. As St. Pio himself put it: "The Lord is a father. He cannot fail to be moved when his children appeal to him."

Interesting comment from Leonora. It gives one incentive to focus.

I wonder, since Michael Jackson is in the same building as Yogananda, and they are not allowing people near where Michael is ... do they have security posted ? or just a gate ? I can imagine that many would want to visit and there must be a lot more visitors to the Mausoleum. When you are there, visiting Yogananda, listen carefully... I wonder if one might hear music drifting thru the place ?

I have heard of Padre Pio, can't remember exactly but the name sounds familiar. If the idea of thoughts = things is correct, then it is good advice not to worry also, because in fact, if you are worrying about something, then you are sending out a signal to the Universe, attracting what it is that you are worrying about to you. If possible, it is best to give your worries to God, Guru and the Angels, they will take care of them for you. This fits in with your comment
Quote
As St. Pio himself put it: "The Lord is a father. He cannot fail to be moved when his children appeal to him."
and so I have given my worries up, for the moment, content in the knowledge that all will be fine, with a little divine intervention from the Angels.  Smiley

Nomaste

i find your thought about the motivating factor of work/service is helpful. Instead of thinking about whether we may loss our opportunity to serve in the present situation we should think about whether we are doing the best to fulfill our service. 'Letting go of the expectations and fruits of actions'. Thanks for the tip Namaste2All. Yes there seems to be a fine line between worry/fear and caution. (Then also recognizing that we should not spend so much time on being 'cautious') i have not yet learned how to navigate it correctly. Yet i strive to have faith in the empowering thought that God is watching over us and knowing that i cannot control the events around me. However, i can recognize his helpful hand in all our plans.
