Amma and mind

Nothing in life is under our control accept our minds. A peaceful mind does not jump to conclusions. The more still the mind is the more it understands the universal mind.

The celebration of Guru Purnima, “Guru Day” is a reminder to find wholeness within ourselves. Looking through the small windows of our mind, we come to the wrong conclusions about ourselves and the world. It is the "Guru", the most noble and reliable friend who will awaken us to the reality that: "We are not this small entity called the body, but the pure consciousness, that everything can, that everything is capable, we are unlimited and eternal!"

(This Sunday at 9am (via zoom) we will be together celebrating the gift of acknowledging the existence of a living master like Amma and so many other avatars who made history on this planet.

Everybody is crazy but it is actually our min that is going crazy. Tell your mind not to be a fool. Do not be fooled by the mind. Be seated in Your Self and always be compassionate.Keep talking to the mind reminded it not to be a fool. Keep cleaning your inner thoughts. Keep telling the mind; “Don’t make me a fool.”

An inspiration from Amma’s ideas about ‘mind’.

We have trees and together they are called forests. We have drops of water and streams that become rivers. Similarly, we have thoughts that become ‘mind’. And our mind gets caught up in such thoughts. Meditation helps us disentangle ourselves from such obstructions.

An inspiration from Amma’s ideas about ‘mind’.

At times we have to ‘walk away’ from such entanglements of the mind because they can weigh us down like an anchor when we are trying to free our thoughts and go  away from the shoreline into the depths of peaceful contemplation.

World peace all starts with the mind. We need to be freed from the disturbances of the mind, our environment and our body. Even if we have a house still the neighbors may have a dog that barks endlessly. We can ask the neighbors to remove the dog or we can sell the house and go to another place. But peace all starts from the mind. We need to be loving in thought and action.
