Of course, I used to think that too but it now seems delusional.

That view with levels is condescending and silly. All the cults are just traps people get caught in.

I'm not an expert in typing definitions. Nor of using language for communication. All I know is that there are folk that understand things *differently*. Like you.

Had a chance to watch this. So my first thought immediately was, every religion or cult or whatever has stories from people who have left. Either to join another one, or just ditch the whole thing and form their own theories. But my ongoing thought before I watched this, and keep in mind this is just what I think, is that these people were at least exposed to God in some way, some small seed was planted. Now it could be that for a particular spirit, this was the way needed to begin a process. Some people learn the easy way, some learn the hard way. Maybe due to past karma or who knows what. IMHO.

I'm not an expert in typing definitions. Nor of using language for communication. . All I know is that there are folk that understand things *differently*. Like you. Excellent point Jeff. Most people would not even have a clue what Brock is saying. It takes a certain amount of metaphysical knowledge to even get your head around such topics. i would prefer to describe it quite differently; Old Souls. Once you start giving to others of a like nature u begin to attract others. In the process of giving you receive and sometimes from beings you recognize to be on a 'different level' then yourself. So i do not see it as condescending at all but rather a recognition that often you are blessed to be in the presence of someone who is lifting you up by the boot straps. It is a humbling situation but necessary to seeing just what someone else has to offer and is giving you. Sometimes others shake us up a bit when r ego gets out of hand and it is quite evident. So people on a higher level have helped in that way. When someones ego is quite obnoxious and u recognize it you may have to let someone else know because they could really benefit from the knowledge and it can be obvious. We live in a sick society in the sense that ego is looked at as helpful to success. Yet at times it is all too obvious that spiritually is lacking in products of our society. For instance: Donald Trump. Quite often his statements are not only uncalled for but they are obnoxious. Most women recognize this in his unflattering and condescending statements made by him about them. That view with levels is condescending and silly.
Si said people are at 'Different levels of understanding.' i see nothing offensive about this but then again i respect Brocks 'level of understanding,' and have listened to him and others who have taken difference with my statements. This is because i believe friends can only help us if they can let us know kindly about our comments that can be considered offensive.

Why do we need religion?
hello brock. i have very ambiguous feelings about your statement so as much as i have tried i cannot answer directly. it seems to me it is not so much religion but rather ideology and the mind that separates people into categories. These r views that separate people indefinitely and sometimes for life. u see it happening between friends and people who have at one time loved one another. It shows a lack of love and empathy. This is not the fault of religion but rather the people in religion. It is the stubbornness and obstinance of people and their views. There r many people who have claimed undying love and friendship who will never talk again. People who use religion to justify fighting to the death for their views and untold atrocities and cruelness to others because of their views. How can this be true religion? In this sense i agree with u because i do not see how people can claim to be religious and spiritual and at the same time refuse to communicate with others and cut them off permanently. Worst yet to believe they r right about their views and the other persons are completely in the wrong. This shows a total lack of understanding in the name of religion which is really just the coldness of the human heart.

Hi steve,
You know, often times emotions are scrutinized. perhaps it is because we've undeveloped minds as a collective.
We are a young species blessed with an evolving intellect but still within its infant stage as a whole.
This world feels like a training ground at times.

This was Brock's question: Why do we need religion?
Eric....i tried my best to answer it. i obviously do not have all the answers. But as far as i can see your response has no connection with the question. Your response, while true, is unrelated to the question unless i am missing something? Perhaps u have an answer to the question. On the other hand your statement could be used for the topic of another thread. You chose the title and we can go from there. i believe u and i have experienced much emotional scrutiny together over the years with acquaintances, friends and lovers. One thing leads to another. There r many among us who see the world as not a 'training ground' where we learn from one another but instead as a place of increasing separation and isolation. The 'collective' element often separates us by minds that have undeveloped hearts. Increasing intellect without a corresponding development of wisdom often gives the prospective of manipulating people like objects of use rather then honoring their spirit as part of a expanding collective whole that includes us all.

hi steve, my post was in response to yours just above it. one may not necessarily need religion to live a spiritual life but rather then focusing on what religion has quickly become or blaming aspects of religion that foster greed i am looking at what religion means for most individuals. considering my earlier post.... i'm merely stating, from a humble and naive perspective, that religion is an expression. if we are truly in our infant stage in this realm then our understanding of life is skewed. i don't think anyone here has all the answers not even the masters we follow and appreciate

I think most people don't really appreciate the tragedy of a person devoting their life to some nonsensical cult. Are we just to think, "Oh, well too bad but they weren't on my level to begin with. They needed remedial courses and now they are ready to start on a path like mine. Good luck next life, Jack. Life's a boot camp." That seems to me to be a very delusional way of thinking. I think if people really grok'd that people waste their lives on religion, and also waste other people's lives, they'd understand why my comments seem so rash and perhaps extreme. Take an accurate account. How does religion play out actually? In theory it's supposed to do this and that, whatever. What does it actually do and yes...again...
Why do we need it?
