Amma and focus during meditation and otherwise

Amma uses the illustration of cotton (or a dried leaf under a magnifine glass) held in the light rays of the Sun the cotton or leaf will ignite under the converging rays of the Sun. In the same way if we use are focused energy on one thought we will create a powerful result during meditation and release a lot of energy. Instead, most of scatter our thoughts in all different directions; and so we dissipate our energies.

Amma says that even if we do not focus and enjoy our seva (service) or meditation still if we are given a sleeping pill without knowing, we will still experience some effect from it. Although it is important to be enthusiastic we will still reap some benefit from meditation if we do so without focus.
