You paint a sad picture my friend. I listened to a podcast last year from a leading environmental scientist. His take is that the earth will suffer major catastrophes because of the way we are living but he had a great optimism to temper this. He pointed out that the worst of times brings out the best in people. We come together and join forces to find solutions. Whether that may be as your doing in contributing to picking up the mess, or whether that be people pulling together and pulling live bodies out of the rubble after an earthquake, a bomb blast or a tsunami, our hidden divinity seems to jump out in these moments.  I think it's important not to give into a doomsday mindset, there's enough  of that in some fundamental christian thought and I think only encourages learnt helplessness as an outcome.

Although I agree for some people it is true that the worst of times brings out the best in people, I look at it differently Web; I would say that if it takes  ‘the worst of times to bring out the best in people’ …. This in fact ‘paints a sad picture’. It makes the human race a people who have to be treated badly to make effort at change.

We do not have to wait for disaster to occur to incite us for change. We can be the change we want to see in others. We can actually visualize a better world today. That is why Amma gave us the ‘flower meditation’ ive talked about under the section on Amma under ‘Masters’.

I understand the ‘doomsday’ mentality of some fundamentalist Christian thought but generally speaking that mindset is inundated with the view to increase and multiply rather than being stewards of the earth.

Then why is it the best of times brings the worst out in people? On the average I pick up 30 to 50 plastic and glass bottles a day to recycle them, that ended up being garbage on the beach … This does include toilets, motorcycle parts, tires, chains connected to boat anchors, plastic bags and broken glass. What kind of environment is this to have any more people!!!

We were never meant to ruin our planet. No: what is most important is to be good stewards. I pick up plastic bags, motorcycle parts, 30-50 plastic bottles and glass bottles toilet parts boat parts and trash on the beach daily.

It is exasperating because I literally cannot keep up with the trash thrown in the ocean and on the beaches.

Many people still have the mindset that is what God wanted ....
For us to fill the Earth and subdue it.

I am astonished that they ‘know’ what God wanted us to do. I would say from personal experience that for me God wanted me to work on myself and getting rid of my ego. That seems to be the problem where we are now. Huge egos attempting to subdue the earth and those who live here.

A lot of people are asleep at the wheel, just going through life not really having the capacity to see beyond movie they are featuring in. The movie within the mind/body dimension is all encompassing therefore people become blind to what's going on around them. If you couple that with such a short attention span these days you can see how as systems breakdown and collapse not many will notice. A few souls are waking...we are told it will help bring in a better world. To see beyond your own movie is difficult even for those who are on the spiritual path. Problems can be so entrenched that there isn't really much capacity to offer more than meditation and prayer. Again we are told this will help. Swimming against the current is always going to be hard.

My friends and I go to the national forests and see more and more huge trucks loaded with freshly cut trees to build more and more houses and we live near one of the largest forests in the U.S. the Manistee national forest which has been more and more sold to private investors and people who put up no trespassing signs through huge swaths of what once was public land.
