'We have reached an impasse in the negotiations -- neither side will budge.'

Sometimes we reach an impasse with our friends or people we associate with. There may be no 'closure' for the time being. This can be frustrating since people usually would like to see a resolution to conflict or differences. Although i believe we should get used to the fact that closure on an issue is not always possible. Sometimes more facts, experience and time itself must determine outcomes and even then people can rationalize their mistakes not admitting to the obvious, in which case many times we have to leave them to their own obstinacy. Life is finding creative solutions to problems and challenges. Some people are not up to this challenge that life thrusts on us.

One person may also push a certain agenda. In which case there is no possibility of closure. If it is all one way and no other way, how is it possible to deal with such a person?

i find myself more willing to accept that we will not always find solutions to challenges in relationships of all sorts. So that the best approach is often to let people and situations go willingly . If is is not possible to do so it may be best to find the best peaceful solution to the situation whether in personal or larger social situations. In court situations it is called ‘no contest’. In personal situations it is called letting go. In international situations it is called a treaty. By no means does it mean someone else has won or they are right. It just means that an impasse has happened and there is no acceptable agreement by all parties involved, so a contingency plan has been arrived at to resolve unacceptable and continuing disputes that may exasperate and worsen divisions and differences. Recently I had such a court case. I never understood the spiritual reason for having been ‘falsely accused’ and thought it was just karmic in nature. With some distance in evaluating the situation though, I think I had to learn a spiritual lesson in the situation. That is that even though I may have been right, it would only escalate the problems for myself by continuing to fight the situation. We at times have to recognize that others may never give up their views even though they may be wrong. So it is not always our responsibility to play God about the issues. Since God will play that role himself.
