Steve, it didn't work in my case, I tried everything. However, I must say that even though I've not been bestowed with experiences and bliss and silencing, perhaps I've been bestowed with wisdom, or Jnana. I find that my general grasp of the cosmic movie and God's vast spheres of thought is much more complete and refined now than when I was a youngster. Of course there si the empirical input of age, but I feel that is not all.
As you know we have very different views of the cosmic movie. I have a complex history of past meditation experiences because I feel I had most of my spiritual experiences when I was younger. But at the same time I felt that I had struggles staying awake and nodding off during meditation. Today, partially I believe because of not working so much, I do not find myself falling asleep at all during meditation. But I am not sure about my experiences. Although I must say I feel more balanced about the stress involved in living. And more comfortable with myself in that sense.
