At the very moment Trump delivered his remarks highlighting his campaign for a dictatorship, the Atlantic published an article by Jeffrey Goldberg confirming his motive. He reported that Trump, as president, had rebuked the US military command, stating: ”I need the kind of generals that Hitler had. People who were totally loyal to him, that follow orders.”

The campaign against Mr. Trump has been so lengthy and extensive and sometimes based on obvious motives of political persecution and propaganda (like in the alleged Russian collusion, never proved), that now whatever comes from the media, especially so the mainstream media, cannot be believed easily.
I still remember the infamous 'bloodbath'. It was reported as a will to retaliate, instead it was a reference to the car manufacturing sector.
IF Mr Trump has really said something like that, and that's a big IF, it's just part of the so many crazy things he has said. Sometimes he looks and sound like a caricature, a stand-up comedian, but maybe he just likes to be that.
The substance is different since his 4-years mandate, something really happened and not just a hypothesis, did not prove to be a collapse of freedom and a triumph of dictatorship.
