The morale for the troops in Ukrainians has not been boosted by such news, they are few, and the enemy has at this point almost unlimited reserves.
Let's see if Mr. Trump will be able to stop the war in Ukraine. That's one of his promises during his campaign, that he would have tried hard, with an undisclosed strategy.
Maybe he's going to pull some strings with his former buddy Mr. Putin.
I fully agree with Steve on the strategic and moral meaning of this war, but the attrition is huge on the Ukrainians, the sanctions didn't do much to deter the Russians and the economic toll is becoming all but unbearable for the Western countries.
Besides, a peace agreement would not mean a victory for the Russians. Even though they would tout it as such.
Thanks for putting it in writing mccoy. It took Biden’s blunders to finally get us out of Afghanistan after Trump never fulfilled that promise. It remains to be seen what shape Trump will leave a free seeking nation like Ukraine with, which has the will to fight for democracy. It appears that no one else has the will to stop the evil intentions of communist forces and the power hungry force of dictatorship expressed in the likes of Putin.
