The process of spiritual evolution brings awareness. Awareness from meditation and the guidance of the Gurus. Awareness expands from the process of meditation. Habits of thought and attitudes from the past slow down the awakening of consciousness so that introspection can resolve deep seated patterns of thought that resist growth.

When Paramahansa Yoganada said that nothing should stand in the way of our search for God and meditation: which is the manifestation of that search... he meant it. This includes children, friends, family and wife as well.

The expansion of awareness resulting from meditation is stifled by an indifference to spiritual evolution and spiritual practice. We must come to  the recognition that people around us are stifled in their spiritual awareness because of their own karma, inertia, mistaken awareness of circumstances and false reasoning. It is for us to continue progressing despite their setbacks and misunderstandings. They may react to us with indifference, erratic behaviors, hostility and irrational reasoning. It is for us to awaken our awareness to new levels of understanding in dealing with such delays on the efforts of ourselves and all too many times those around us.

In our attempts to understand our own mistaken perspective, we must also recognize that the mistaken views of others in our proximity to them is also a factor we must attend to in our introspection. Most people remain relatively content, if not comfortably numb to those gaining insights and spiritual perceptions beyond their current perception.  Quite often we may be in the company of younger souls then ourselves in our attempts to satisfy certain desires yet to manifest in our lives.

There are also karmic factors that bring us in contact with souls who have no motivation beyond that of making money, sex and physical desires. It is important to also recognize that we have those who come as part of our search in life for specific purposes and then just as easily vanish, while other friends are of a more enduring nature and may be a part of the script of our lives for a full life time or even many life times if we serve a purpose in their evolutionary process and they also serve a purpose in ours.

It has been shown to me that a reality check is important in awareness. We may find that who we associate with can deter our awareness. Quite often people who were friends may even question our approach to reality and may even resort to questioning our sanity as a means of negating our view of life. This shows just how much toxicity in relationships can affect us. I have found that even spending time in a different nation can deter us from the negative spiritual environment of a native country we may have been in most our lives. But now has entered it's McBeth and King Lear phase of development.

For example; the heavily influenced conditioning of the United States has made me recognize that the country I have lived in all my life has gotten way out of balance and regardless of criminality it has chosen to elect wealth and power over humanity and spiritual awareness. Macrocosmic economic growth over microcosmic influenced economy favoring family business and helping small business success. You see such small business in for instance; Columbia where people can sell their products on the greens and sidewalks. Something not allowed in the United States.

Steve, I think you should describe your recent trip to Colombia in a specific thread, I only got it from hints.
Yes, globalism favors huge corporations, whereas in other countries small businesses are still the rule. The wealth and power accruing to such large companies then instill the will to change society and world order, sometimes for the worse.

My opinion is that America has recently been through such a phase, with corporations allying with the government (Biden's government) to change American society into a model I describe as highly dystopic.

That phase is perhaps over. Hopefully. We'll see.

That I am aware of Biden doesn't even have his own business. On the contrary Trump not only has many businesses but the Trump empire is a model of corporate capitalism. Trump gave some the largest tax breaks in history to the most wealthy people in the states. He left the middle class and the poor out. He is the epitomy of corporate capitalism, as can be seen by his support of Elon Musk and Betsy Devos as appointees to his administration. Some of the most wealthy people in the United Clones.

Columbia is used here as an illustration of just how unbalanced the states have become with 1 percent of the population owning 50% of the means of production. It is more than appropriate to mention the economic disparity in America, where corporate America has destroyed the middle class and has left the poor with no way to support their financial needs..In Columbia the lower classes serve a meaningful purpose of selling products in the streets without government interference. On the contrary in the United Clones the Police force has no end to working to put the poor in prison for loitering vagrancy and attempting to find food in a country that shows little concern for the dignity of the human race and is extremely divided in class. The United Clones resorts to imprisoning those who are a result of the inhumane lack social responsibility shown by right wing Republican views espoused by Donald Trump and his lackeys.

Donald Trump will do nothing more than exasperate the disparity and economic woes of the common person in the U.S. as he did his last term in office.

The United States is now an example of the most selfish and decadent people in the world. Instead of helping it's citizens as Amma has exemplified by building universities, homes, and relief organizations and donating over  1 billion dollars to charity since the 80's these people who run their government have hoarded their money and built businesses to crush all their rivals. United States has become one of the worst example of spirituality in the world today. A decadent country who once again show the falt lines of deteriorization and the corruptness of how such people stepped on others, manipulated the government, lied about their taxes and attempted to overthrow a democracy with an insurection, now represent some of the worst in mankind and are echoing the Roman Empire as a testament to what selfishness can do to a people.

Yes mccoy I am also looking at the country I at one time loved as an example of freedom and some degree of compassion and see if it can survive this period of history putting opportunistic business ahead of statesmanship and human compassion.

My experiences with the civil war, once again are showing me what has happened to a people who have made slaves out of men. History repeats itself and now we will see the effects of making economic slaves out of men and women will affect the body of a people.

Amna has said that every human being on this planet should have one good meal a day. When a country as rich as some are in the United States can not even provide that what will be the outcome and what does such a country deserve?
