💐🌹💜🙏 Love and Joy to Bro. Achalananda on his Birthday August 20. 💐🌹💜🙏 He is 98 yrs. old today.

Brother shares a 'birthday' with Lake Shrine, which was dedicated on August 20, 1950.  Brother entered the ashrams of Guruji in 1953 (at the same time as his dear friend Bro. Dharmananda.)  Brother served in many ways, including as Vice President of SRF/YSS until he asked to step back from that duty 3 yrs. ago.  He now serves at Lake Shrine, as  Bro. Satyananda described him as their 'happy Yogi'.

See Yogananda Site articles by our dear Brother here:

I was there with Brother Achalananda the day he explained the deeper meaning of the Wizard of Oz, at the Lake Shrine. Press link to see.

Spiritual Eye

Well, first you have to get into it (the spiritual eye).  Yeah, first you have to see it and then you have to get into it…you just have to keep after it….there is the golden tunnel…there’s the smaller blue tunnel…there’s the silver star.

First you have to see it.  Then how do you hold it? You hold it by, as Guruji said, look at whatever light you see right in the center of that light, and just look there with devotion, with love.  Don’t be nervous or upset or try to force anything.   If you look there calmly and deeply enough, basically you’re surrendering to it.   When that becomes deep enough…suddenly you’re in it and you don’t even know how you got there.   And that…is through devotion.   Once you’re in there, you’re not breathing.

(How do you keep it?)  That’s the big battle, is the thoughts.   That’s why you have the techniques.  You have to learn to sit still.   You can do that, that’s pretty easy. Then you have to still the restless monkey mind.  That’s hard.  That’s what the techniques are for.  You practice that technique with deep attention, and you’ll start stilling this restless mind.  And then you will start to go deep when that happens.

I know that by practicing jyoti mudra we can see some form of light. You may even see light on a sunny day by closing you eyes and the brightness of the Sun remains as light in your inner gaze. All these forms of light whether originating from a physical source or astral source, or from the chakras are legitimate territory and techniques to increase the quality of light we see in meditation.

Paramahansa Yogananda spoke of watching the Sun 15 minutes before it goes over the horizon ( while it is not dangerous to your sight.) and then closing your eyes attempting to see the light in your inner gaze. Most likely you will see the light of the Sun. The Suns orb retains its image in your inner gaze.  Attempt to keep it in your inner meditation. When I was a teenager I started meditation by staring into the light of a candle 🕯️ and then closed my i eyes and attempted to retain the light of the flame in my inner gaze. All these methods interiorize your consciousness for the practice of meditation.

~ Jitendra

P.S. meditation and it’s practices have become a true love of mine. Never disappointing me, because love always requires patience and I’m willing to wait till I have a chance to experience it again.
