Hiya Steve and mccoy,

I like this thread thanks guys. Let's talk about what practices you do to increase your concentration and memory recall?

And Steve, I should caution you- yogi is good tea but be weary of tea bags which are full of microplastics and other harmful contaminants. For optimal results buy loose leaf tea.

Cheers ~

During meditation….

Because the mind is relaxed often sudden flashes of memory are awakened. Although it may be interrupting meditation it may even help recall important appointments. That has been my experience.

Research shows that cognitive levels drop with iron deficiency. In fact, when iron levels in the blood drop, concentration and attentiveness are affected almost immediately. Getting iron levels restored to a normal range can improve concentration and boost cognitive performance.

I also remember reading in the SRF lessons that maple syrup and citrus fruits stimulate the brain. While caffeine from coffee and tea dull the brain.

I just think it important to recognize the importance of for instance avocados, which may have a cumulative impact on our lives over years. We may not notice it at first but after awhile we find friends or acquaintances having a different perspective on event’s because of their memory retention of what has transpired. Avocados are helpful for a good memory and also pistachios. Paramahansa Yogananda also recommended a memory stimulant drink in the lessons; orange juice with a few chopped almonds and a teaspoon or so of honey.

Swami V has said we have to learn how to live in harmony with bacteria.

Researchers Discover Gut Bacteria That Can Improve Memory

Quote
The scientists also think it likely the bacteria could be increasing its own fitness by promoting the cognitive ability of its host, as bees with better memories could bring more food to their colony and therefore survive longer.

“It’s amazing to find out the specific memory-enhancing bacteria species,” study author Professor Wei Zhao said. “The results further validate our belief that we may improve our cognitive ability via the regulation of gut microbiota.”

Beatrice; I’ll remember thy next time I go tromping through the wetlands. Invite Hildegard for Sunday brunch with us.  Hey P.Y. Told us over 75 years go that avocado is good for retention of memory and look why…. I read in a popular magazine today;

Avocado helps in Improved cognition because of lutien in it.

What is lutein good for?

Lutein is a type of carotenoid with strong antioxidant properties that have been shown to be beneficial for eye health, cognitive function, and heart health and may even help decrease the risk of some cancers.Aug 26, 2021

During the hot summer it is helpful to practice Paramahansa Yogananda’s method of placing ice at all the openings of the body as it is helpful to develop memory.
