Thanks for this observation Eric;

“About trees...

I had the thought there are more to trees than we know- something like cellphone towers for spirits. They serve as some kind of medium and host...”

And still more, the trees have been likened to our lungs- and the Sun our Heart.

Separately... We must not recognize the totality of our being because we are so comfortably identified with the singlular personality when the reality might be we are connected to more than this temporary form.

 ~Eric

It is difficult to put into words what exactly it is about the forest and sometimes - individual trees can do to us -  and how they affect us. But I see you have done that nicely above. I certainly have felt a humbling presence in the humility of many a tree I’ve sat under and meditated besides.

Yes, the trees provide us oxygen and we provide them carbon dioxide; a very important exchange that has been disrupted by a lack of balance between natures resources and our invasive intrusion on this exchange by cutting down too many forests to serve humanities greed and desire to eat meat. Using for instance the Amazon forest for flesh eating human beings and cutting down trees to provide human beings with luxury living conditions- huge homes and extensive properties where trees are replaced with lawns and private property signs, strip malls, highways and skyscrapers; depriving humans the ability to coexist with nature. What I have found is that trees are much more kinder and friendly than the people who cut them down and put up ‘no trespassing’ signs in their place. They often also use security cameras to enforce them.

Everywhere I go to experience trees and forests I find more and more people encroaching on nature to satisfy humanities desire to multiply like rats. Suburbs, strip malls and housing projects, taking over where once the splendor of nature existed. I would put the evolution of trees high on the list, especially because they give and share oxygen which is a necessity for so called ‘higher’ forms of life on earth.

What I have found is that trees are much more conducive to meditation than the cheeseburger generation that has cut them down to provide more room to slaughter cattle for their gluttonous desire for flesh to eat. Yet there is something that satisfies the spirit in man and woman when sitting under a tree shaded from the hot rays of the sun and feeling the breeze as well as hearing it blow through the limbs and leaves. It is fall in Michigan and the trees are changing into gorgeous colors. Yesterday I saw many gilded leaves blow to the ground like golden nuggets in the wind.

I’m a fan of returning to nature and for the most part - turning my back on humanities so called accomplishments that are paired with destructive acts.

We are able to create our own environment as well. For instance, smudging or lighting incense helps, while meditating in the shower and beside a large tree really can instigate the right thoughts to support a good meditation. Especially the thoughts or attitudes we carry with us about others or life influence our meditation practice.
