Very cool.
I agree, consciousness does not originate in the brain.
I would also like to share a thread here titled, "NonOrdinary States of Consciousness"
http://spiritualportal.net/index.php/topic,7685.msg37200.html#msg37200A bit of a separate tangent-
Growing up I identified with feelings and memories similar to the lore of fallen angels. Later in life I questioned if I was sharing memories with an intelligence other than Eric B(present personality incarnate).
I do think of life intelligent life existing within these ranges:

The conscious state being our 3D personalities identified with our basic senses.
And the superconscious state being something like the realm of angels or ET's existing in additional dimensions we do not readily perceive.
Ultimately, all belong to God because God is all there is.
"Consciousness is a singularity phasing within all beings." ~Erwin Schrödinger
I had a dream of Hazrat Inayat Khan, as I fondly looked upon his picture(in my dream) I realized he shared a life with an ET. I have met other spiritual seekers who have met Yogananda as an ET form. I think we share our being with others in ways we do not presently comprehend... But we receive assistance from these beings for the sake of fulfilling the desire- Know Thy Self.
Anyways... I really liked this article, and the thoughts you've allowed me to share.
Namaste friend!
