Intereststs; Meditation/Spiritual Life

Thanks UWE ,

I have found that I am also responsible for my discrimination in accepting or rejecting another persons advice. This also is an important part of the spiritual path for me. I was going to college and remember a college professor who was the head of the religion department tell me that Paramahansa Yogananda’s life was filled with scandals and affairs. Her statements I brushed off like leaves on an over windy day. I asked myself one important question; what has this Master done for me and my life? Perception and mindsets play heavily in any situation when we get advice. We have to discriminate constantly and even ask ourselves when we get advice; Does this advice really pertain to me? Am I able to take suggestions and advice correctly? Or, do I take offense to suggestions and advice? It matters not so much about what we hear from others but rather how we take such advice, how we react, respond and whether it is applicable to our understanding of our own sadhana.

The interesting thing I found about Paramahansa Yogananda that I still need to incorporate in my own life is this;

He would be criticized harshly but find some bit of truth in it or a reason for such behavior that applies to others. Once he was with monks and a person walked up and started lecturing him on what it was to be a Christian. The monks said do we have to listen to such ignorance from others. Yet when the man left, the Master said to the monks; Look how devoted this man is, I would like you to take his devotion as an example. If I find the story I will relate it the way it was described in the SRF lessons. ( self realization fellowship).
