Just making the observation, sometimes we are correct in assuming we understand another's motives. But what can happen is we become unconscious of our reaction towards said assumption. For instance, you know someones nature is to question your belief in god, aliens, angels- or even your meditative experience- you know saying, "just because" annoys them and they continue to probe so you unconsciously become defensive knowing their scrutiny might mean diminishing your personal belief to some degree. To them, personal beliefs should be debated and if they can't stand scrutiny- why believe? To you, you understand not everything can be satisfied by limited reasoning.

While we were correct in our understanding of another to a superficial degree(surface level understanding) we were not aware of our own defensive demeanor or why, what could have been a correct response- turns into a regrettable one.

Not assuming, not worrying and being able to see ourselves more than what we think we see in another, these are the real challenges worthy of our energy.
