Qualities of Foods

The Vedas divide people and food into different qualities and expressions. They are;

1. Satvic

2. Rajasic

3. Tamasic

We see these expressions manifesting in others and ourselves at different times and as a result of different environmental influences. People with ignorant and dark thoughts and presences are generally speaking, attracted to tamasic or dark food as well; pork alcohol and beef. People with Satvic qualities-with spiritual and kind thoughts-are attracted to foods filled with life as vegetarians eating fresh fruits and vegetables. People that are activating or Rajasic in nature are attracted and eat energetic foods; eggs, energy drinks and foods that activate us. We may find ourselves attracted to different foods based on the qualities we are presently manifesting or in many cases desiring.

Because of this it is very difficult to encourage a meat eater to become a vegetarian or for a vegetarian to suddenly lower his or her consciousness to become a carnivore. There has to be a coinciding change of consciousness for this to happen with any degree of regulaty.
