Marianne Williamson; A Spiritual President; and it appears the first, in our life and times.

After spending decades writing self-help books, starting nonprofits dedicated to building peace, and serving as a self-described "spiritual thought leader," Marianne Williamson has pivoted to politics.

After spending decades writing self-help books, starting nonprofits dedicated to building peace, and serving as a self-described "spiritual thought leader," Marianne Williamson has pivoted to politics.

The 71-year-old is a two-time Democratic presidential candidate who first ran in 2020 and has now joined the 2024 race. When she announced her second long-shot bid in March 2023, Williamson said an outsider like her needed to participate in politics because "the status quo ... will not disrupt itself." She also vowed to end "a sociopathic economic system that in policy after policy after policy makes sure that those who already have will probably get more and those who do not have will have a hard time even surviving."

I recently was invited to see this woman in Detroit by a Unity minister named Diane and a book writer himself named Charles - first names for now.

I was not planning on going but wanted to meditate and exercise on that particular Sunday. When I stepped out side of the church in Muskegon Michigan it was raining 🌧️ with a cloud filled sky. In fact so much so that the two that invited me were reconsidering going. Diane asked Charles if we were still on our way and he answered in the affirmative. It was what I considered a divine intervention for me to witness, since I found two new friends and was exposed to a very charismatic woman running for president of the United States, who I also had a chance to ask  a personal question.

I'm sorry Steve but I politely disagree with your opinion. I'm here because you text me asking me to be here. That being said, I'm afraid anyone over 70 is just too old for the position. While I'm at it, we need younger representatives preferably in their late 30's and no older than 65. We need term limits for Congress too.

I also think claiming to be spiritual does not qualify a person as the first spiritual president in our lifetime. One, she is not president and two there are plenty of candidates who must have some aspects of spirituality to them despite not adding the word to their resume. Or maybe this is just your opinion, rather than her claim. It's okay that you admire this woman, I'm sure she's a nice lady.

If anything, being nice is a recipe for disaster if you wish to take on all the attacks happening in this nation or set matters right with regards to our involvement around the world. Our infrastructure is compromised, and I'm not sure anyone over 70 has the mental prowess of combatting such a Goliath.

I think Trump's presidency really woke my generation up to this fact.

I do not recall her adding the name ‘spiritual’ to her resume. But I ‘politely’ ask you to name a candidate who can give any such credentials that is younger and carry’s her ‘resume’ as you put it for president. Being nice was the recipe of a Jesus Christ and curiously he has withstood the test of time, without being a ‘recipe for disaster’ as you so blithely stated it.

Moses lived to be 120 years old and was completely healthy. “…his eyes were not weak, nor his strength gone” (Deuteronomy 34:7).

Enoch lived 365 years. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enoch

The one who lived the longest was Methuselah, son of Enoch, who lived 969 years.

Buddha was said to have lived to the age of 80 years…https://www.britannica.com/biography/Buddha-founder-of-Buddhism

Solomon was said to have died at 80 years of age… https://www.worldhistory.org/solomon/

And in your self proclaimed spiritual background Eric; https://www.britannica.com/topic/Sikhism

Kabir ( lived 120 years) and Guru Nanak (lived to 70 years of age.) were a couple of the oldest wisest men who ever lived.

Eric you may want to retract your statements after seeing this short video below. You will see people who live older and older as we move up through the yugas (Dwapara, Treta and Satya) and are perfectly able to deal with the world and it’s wrangling interventions…😝…….

No retractions necessary friend.

So you called her the first spiritual president of our life but all I said was I disagree. Do I have that right?
Marianne Williamson; A Spiritual President; and it appears the first, in our life and times.

To my point, there aren't many candidates that meet the age I have suggested. A total reform would need to take place, which is less than likely.

There is Vivek Ramaswamy who is gaining popularity. But as you can see, if the nation had my age requirements in place even RFK JR would not qualify to run and I really like RFK JR.

Also. I do not proclaim to be a Sikh or say that is my religion. I have shared revelations and experiences that have roots to mystic Sufism for reasons even unknown to me. I maintain religion is personal, something solely between God and You. We don't have the answers(for others), but we discover along the way and evolve according to our temperament. It was from a dream I heard the words, "I am Sufi" not even knowing at the time Sufi meant something. But, I have never said these words as a declaration of my religion to you or others.

I think your latest interest in Sikhism is somehow confusing my personal experiences-

Separately...

There is a post somewhere here where you've quoted the Bible and mentioned Jesus flipping a table. The search function here is horrible and I really don't feel like getting into debate about it, only to add another point- it seems people(not just yourself) use biblical scripture to fit their own narratives. One minute, Jesus is only nice- another, Jesus is flipping tables and willing to lash out some stern disciplinary action. Again, you are not being singled out here. This is my experience with people who quote the bible.

As for these examples of Spiritual figures you've provided... What does that have to do with the times we find ourselves in and the person you are promoting for President? Can you tell me a person alive today who is 969 years old? Let's talk about what we have right now, and right now Joe Biden is an illegitimate pretending to be President who apparently craps his pants when he throws a fit. That's a rumor, but do you think he is mentally fit? I don't. Most people I know over 60 living in the US in todays world have hearing issues, health issues, memory issues, all kinds of issues. Does it apply to all? No. But it's the reason for my suggesting the age limit as I have. Call it a fantasy, I don't expect what I'm saying to suddenly take hold and all of a sudden we have term limits in Congress.

Now, you can have your fun with my words. You've asked for my participation and I've obliged. I think I'm about done for the time being. Maybe I will learn more about this person and consider her for President. That's all you wanted from this anyways right? To allow us to consider another option.

So thank you, can't say I will vote for her- but maybe I will learn more as we get closer.

Yes Eric just hope to compare notes on the candidates, especially in the primaries since in the U.S.; once the primaries have been decided you may just be left with two candidates you find both unsettling.

The candidate hadn't quite caught my attention before, but I think I've heard her name...
I think it's good for a variety of people to be running for President.
Lord knows, what we've got isn't working as it should, according to the vision that created the original documents.
I like to keep hope that positive change is possible ~ There are so many good things happening,
everywhere around the world, through people with ideals that are considered and chosen.
It's gotta be the right answer sometime, right?

With a nod to those who are seeing elderly states-folks as something to be corrected in future years,
I ask that we consider the possible advantages of having seasoned thinkers and doers leading us.
Some people that age are in perfectly good shape and at the top of their game...
Look at Bob Uecker, for heaven's sake!

Thanks Joy, I sent a pm to you, and hope to see you soon since you are back in Michigan again, on another note….

More on Martian Williamson;

https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/marianne-williamson-oprah-confidant-author-spiritual-teacher-presidential/story?id=60709204

‘More than anything else in America today, we need moral leadership and values, and a moral and spiritual awakening.’

Williamson is a supporter of Medicare for all and is pushing for sweeping reform in sectors including the environment and food which she sees as "contributing to people being sick." During the first Democratic debate, she argued that a health care system which does not invest in preventative care would be a system of "superficial fixes."

I myself have a difficult time attempting to help friends that continue to have health issues day to day and will not look at their own diet, quite often very heavily dependent on meat products and fast foods.

I don't see Marianne Williamson winning Presidency.

I think they will install Gavin Newsom, whether they try to lock us down again or not. He will be the next puppet.

As much as I admire Donald Trumps efforts, I will vote for RFK JR. My intuition says this is good karma, and will help provide balance to all worldly affairs.

Trump, who has been indicted on 91 felony counts, including charges that stem from allegedly seeking to overturn the 2020 election and mishandling classified documents, remains the overwhelming front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination.

White House hopeful and author Marianne Williamson likened President Trump to King George, the monarch from whom the U.S. declared independence, and hammered his trade policies as responsible for market instability.
“Well first of all, we have a little bit of a mad King George in charge of this country right now and his chaos, and what he’s done with the tariffs, and what he’s done with China, the instability of course is causing the market to go nuts because the market doesn’t appreciate that. The market likes some sense of stability,” she said on CNN Saturday, referring to the British king against whom the colonies revolted, partially over taxes.
“We have a little bit of a mad King George in charge of this country right now,” Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson says about President Trump and the US economy, adding that the economy “is skewed in the favor of a very few people.” https://t.co/E0awlYz10P pic.twitter.com/LZ8u6Jrtin

On Ukraine…

For those of us who have spent years opposing the influence of the military industrial complex on U.S. foreign policy, the war in Ukraine poses a peculiar challenge. It’s possible to believe the undue influence of the U.S. war machine is very real, and at the same time believe the Russian invasion of Ukraine is a criminal venture that cannot be tolerated by the world.

The United States has perpetrated its own imperialistic ventures, to be sure. Hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions have died because of our own misguided actions. But a position of anti-imperialism should be consistent, whether it be ours or anyone else’s. Did American foreign policy contribute to the germination of the war in Ukraine? Yes. Did our actions regarding NATO, and putting Aegis missiles in Poland, only exacerbate the situation? Yes. But that does not mean we are ultimately responsible for Putin’s atrocious invasion, nor does it mean that our larger interests, the interests of the people of Ukraine or the interests of the rest of the world, are best served by our withholding support from Ukraine now.

I doubt that RFK will be president either but we can have our hopes and many things can happen between now and then. I think it’s a good practice to exercise our intuition and later see if it was correct or not, and how correct it has become. Practice-whether it be for spiritual reasons, psychic development, or any other reason -  brings out our flaws and helps us improve them. I believe we have two elderly men who our favored to be our options, yet many things can happen at their age and could change their ability to even run for president.

Marianne Williamson on ‘balance’ a quality you look for Eric.

Calling for an awakening

Williamson unapologetically infuses her interest in spirituality into her political campaigning.

On her website she calls for a “a moral and spiritual awakening” in America, speaking to those who are “seeking higher wisdom.” And in her closing statement at the first Democratic debate, she proclaimed that she will harness love to defeat President Donald Trump.

Vaccines Are “Draconian”

Discussing vaccines at a campaign event in Manchester, New Hampshire, in June, Williamson told her audience: “To me, it’s no different than the abortion debate. The U.S. government doesn’t tell any citizen, in my book, what they have to do with their body or their child.” She added that mandatory vaccinations are “draconian” and “Orwellian.” Marianne also clarified her views.
