Eric, the data about mortality were clear from the beginning. When I saw the data on the cruise ships, I was relieved. This is a very infective but little-lethal virus, except for the elders and fragile, I thought.
It turned out that the virus was actually dangerous to the higher age group and some people with particular conditions suffered.
The response of governments may have been justified at the beginning, due to uncertainty and fear. Surely it was not justified after the vaccine was created.
They kept imposing lockdowns even after vaccinations, kept imposing a 3rd booster shot, kept the mandatory vaccination for all and went on terrorizing people. They also suppressed the dissenting voices, like in dictatorial countries. I was amazed, but it happened.
Italy was the country with the most draconian measures, it had the higher mortality and its economy was the most penalized. Not a very good outcome I'd say.
Aside from that, if I may ask, why are you still ruminating about that dark period?
