It's hard to know what one means by "thinking of God".
I'm not sure how to be more clear than that.
Nomaste Perhaps this thread will support our discussion.Lately I have been buzzing with the presence of God. I believe it is because I feel grateful for what the Guru has done in my life. However it is also out of recognition of how easily maya can snag you and present a new set of issues in your life. Today I have big plans for thinking of God. I need to interview him again.
It's hard to know what one means by "thinking of God". A good practice is japa, with calmness. Remaining calm and even minded is what I find to be most important. In the past I have tried to practice positive thinking without even mindedness. I found that it throws you off center. It makes you bipolar, so to speak. So, now I realize we must do the positive thing and think the positive thought, but with non-attachment and calmness. We think the positive thought but do not grasp at it. We do not give energy to negative thoughts, but we do not have aversion toward them either (because aversion gives them energy). Remaining centered, I find, is the most important thing and it can be done.
