I read a curious thing from a female the other day... She made a post that said it feels like she is losing her identity. But I wager what she is losing is not so much her identity as it is a familiar pattern...

It really has my head scratching... What is Identity? Because it seems a younger generation is so eager to identify, but no one really knows their true identity... Unless we experience Samadhi... And how often is that, especially here in the West?

We are not our house, we are not our car. We are even, not our emotions... Or are we all these things and more?

Tonights meditation has shown me more what we are not.

Meditation is so nice, so wonderful. In an instant, all the worry and thoughts built from ones past can be momentarily eliminated or, alleviated. Forgiveness can happen in an instant. It is such a rewarding feeling. It allows you time to experience the present, which tells you that you are not those thoughts running in your head, you are not what you think from the culmination of past events... And meditation shows us that every moment ahead of what we call the present is an opportunity to try again.

At the same time I found myself identifying with everything during meditation. I found that I am the discord and I am the agreement. That I am the upset energy and that I am the forgiving energy. That I am the neighbor enjoying loud rock and roll. That I am the other neighbor tiredly getting home from work and wheeling the trash can inside the house. That I am the energy swirling around my neighborhood- that I am sitting in calm repose, I am the leaf falling from my tree- the bug accidentally being squished and dying... I have been all these things- am all these things, and also none of these things... At one with my environment, and other times- in complete rebellion.

It was a practice that allowed me to accept and be present, which feels most important.

You would get along fine with the 10 moods of Dr. Kook !!! A psychologist would call what you are describing as ‘cognitive dissonance’. Interesting that what one can call awareness another can call personality dysfunction..

For your entire view point…

As you know, I recently visited the Kook. He says not to take life so seriously. Among other things... =)

I enjoyed the song. I would love to hear more of your thoughts on identity, from a meditators perspective but I guess random jest is how you wish to play at the moment. That's okay. Fortunately these threads don't delete themselves.

Wishing all a great day.

I found myself really enjoying the setting sun these last few weeks... End of Feb beginning of March- the setting sun is so amazing, phenomenal... Just sitting there enjoying it, there is nothing greater.

Anyways... I found myself suddenly receiving internal dialogue to perhaps the difficulties we're facing during this time. In it I realized identity as an ideal, which has been taught to me previously by HIK(Hazrat Inayat Khan)

This may not be the most eloquently expressed, but this was for my self... And still, I hope to share it that it might help you- maybe there is a kernel of truth you can appreciate and take with you....

I found it kind of difficult to capture the transmission I was receiving... And realized my curiosity took the download into different avenues, dancing with whatever intelligence was communicating with me... So I tried digging into things I found difficult, like noticing the weaponization of identity... So here it is...

"At a point where Identity is challenged, on a massive scale
Truth is all there is,
Negative and Positive will be drawn to the Truth
and the potential field of either will be Realized

What unites us can be used against us.
The only thing I want to aim to hold on to,
is what allows me to rise through the differences found between friends,
family, culture, racial identity, national identity, global identity... Because as the tiers are ever expanding
It starts from and ends in the Same

You.
Me.
I.

US.

Nevermind your doubts.
Pride is good.
Belonging is good.

But pay attention to the ancients.

Humility supercedes.
Patience and Wisdom transcend.

Identity has always been an ideal.
Others will tell you it is wrong to be one way,
Wrong to be another.
They're only there so you can rise above...

Forging your own Path.

Racial identity is an ideal weaponized by a negative polarity drawn to the truth. Truth is all there is. Identity is used against you, meant to challenge you, so you may rise above. Transcend your limits. Rejoice in your belonging, and expand your horizons even further. There is no animosity for the different grades of realization, and there will be no animosity towards those who seek to steal your Power... Realizing their existence weakens them and emboldens you on the road to Mastery. The proverbial they is not one person, but a forever cascading destruction. Free your self now, remember every moment is an opportunity. You don't need to hold on to one thought for so long, you chose to transform... To change the environment. You understand your significance, are stepping into your role, and creating a harmonious relationship with Mother Earth... Father God... "
