Finding time to meditate

Many people say they do not have time to meditate in their busy schedules. The irony of such statements are that wonder if God and spirit were to say to us; “I do not have time enough for you. I am taking care of vast universes and billions of stars.” When seen from that perspective we begin to understand the purpose of life and the importance of our connection with spirit. In fact we begin to experience the vibrations around us. We feel the magnetism or inertness of others. The level of consciousness of those around us becomes more apparent. The energies that surround us become recognizable. Our recognition of sentient awareness awakens. We also experience the relative darkness and maya of our surroundings and the beings that enter it. We experience the reaction to our light from others. It is a repulsion or attraction to our development as spiritual beings.

Never imagine that meditation is not helpful. It is awakening billions of cells in the brain and those who are perceptive can ‘see’ it work. However even by computer technology I have seen my brain waves change during my the practice of meditation.

Modern scientific techniques such as fMRI and EEG have been used to see what happens in the body while people meditate. One function that has been measured is brain wave activity during meditation. In EEG ( electroencephalograph) studies, brain waves of different frequencies are measured.

The last year I've been meditating very little, due to having my autistic son (seriously autistic) at home. What I can say is that I feel the lack of lengthy meditations.

We all have various paths to God. Yours sounds much like karma yogi. I bet you and your son would really enjoy spending time together seeing Amma for a retreat next time she comes to Italy. I’ve seen many adults with others they are in care of at her events. Amma delights in meeting exceptionally challenged and different human beings. I have personally witnessed this in individuals I’ve seen receiving darshan before me. I think the two of you would find mutually satisfying spiritual activity there!

Steve, yes, karma yoga or a non-negotiable karmic duty as I feel it is. We may call it a karmic burden and in a way it is, but it's also a big challenge in some sense. A karmic opportunity. I had to explore new topics like psychopharmacology and behavioral sciences, which have their interesting aspects.

I found this very insightful. Specifically this element to reciprocity- whether in a negative or positive manner. Then there's no charge at all, which has more to do with what you've said- indeed there are others who display no polarity in our vibrational field and we often move on from each other to pursue interest that would bring about real growth. Re. Amma: I'd really like to meet her person.

A laudable aspiration. We both want to see her. I cannot think of a single human being now in the body, I would like to see more than her. I have had some wonderful blessings in the process. With Masters, we often recognize their blessings over a life time not so much immediately. Perhaps that is because they are always with us regardless of physical proximity and their consciousness is timeless.

We all wear certain stigmas attached to us. Some by social factors and others we have put on in previous lives that we carry with us. There is no one that I’ve met that takes away these social, personal psychological and biological stigmas more than Amma. I have also welcomed her discipline which I have found has changed my way of relating with people as well. While not very easy at times, I find that my life has taken unusual twists and turns because of having people like her and our gurus of SRF guiding my own difficult karma I’ve been working out this life. While I often feel the weight of karmic factors in my life, many people have also entered my life showing me how graceful to be when karma seems oppressing.

I remember once asking one of Amma’s close nuns about being with Amma and how it is. She explained in her own words it is not always as glamorous as it appears. She herself goes through many physical difficulties. Like Jesus and Paramahansa Yogananda, such Masters help their disciples by working off their karma (sins) on their own body. Can we even begin to understand such compassion. I am not able to or have never been able to accept when I have received the blessing of experiencing Amma’s love. It was truly overwhelming when compared to any human experience.

I can be reading through some of your posts and find certain catch words or phrases and zero in on them. They are so insightful at times;

Apparently, polarity while being often challenging has also a certain magnetic field that draws unlikely candidates of differing views together. Circumventing such differences brings in other elements of interest that may have quite a different attraction. ~ Jitendra
