I’ve noticed that my discipline for spiritual practice is discouraged by outward sources. Not sure how to deal with this accept to acknowledge it and attempt to do better.

Some additional thoughts... Anxiety, restlessness... is the need to be entertained. Too much time in the tabloids, as one example, means being pulled away from ones spiritual practice. Yet there is something to be said, about harmony- which is or is not reflected around us. I realize when I am living in a state of peace, nothing out side my self can really rob me of that. Perhaps these disruptions are reminders to look within, to let go of the frivolous and remember your connection with God. It's always there, but often we separate ourselves from this reality. For the most part, we are the source of our problems and rarely do we acknowledge that. Everything within is reflected without. It is possible to experience heaven on earth, even in the face of tyranny. You are a mini-creator... Reclaim your power. Sovereignty is your birth right.

I have met many people who are discouraged and depressed. I went through Amma’s council in the last hour and found quite a few entries on the subject. I was grateful that some were meant for my understanding as well. These are a few that I dug up…

“We see people in our own self concepts. That is why it's difficult to get along with others. Because of this it seems easier to get along with animals. Our expectations cause unfortunate circumstances. We have such expectations of others and criticize them for not being like we thought. We may say about him or her ' I never thought they were such a loser.'  Yet should we expect a nurse to be a doctor?  Can we expect a frog to be an elephant?

If you go to village and expect to see the culture of  a city you will be disappointed. When we get dissolutioned by the external nature of something our expectations are too high. It is not bad to have expectations yet we should recognize that there is positive and negative in others.”
