This fear based sentence is exactly the narrative they discuss in close encounters of the fifth kind. I hope you do watch it in full, it really helps people understand how narratives play out around us- as well as the connection between a national security, counter intelligence entity allied with say a board of directors for companies like the New York times or CNN.
If we head in the fear driven, national security threat narrative- you can be sure we are being misdirected and our world elites are engineering a situation that would be payed for in blood and treasure.

That being said I still need to read the link,
And I would also include there are two paths- one more artificial in nature. The artificial path is still valid, and offers the same learning opportunities. It's not my desired path, but one that will be made more apparent over time.
