Prioritize

One thing I learned from spending so much time living in Southern California. That is that this creation is very insidious in its ability to drag us away from our purpose. Most people never even realize what the purpose of life is and of those who do few keep it as their number one priority. That is because delusion is so strong. The various distractions of life keep us engaged in everything but our life’s goal. So instead of releasing our soul from the pull of desire and new desires we become engrossed in pursuing desires. Desires and so called needs. In retrospect we can see how the time we have spent in life’s pursuits gives us little if no peace. While I lived around many spiritual aspirants I found that they all helped me understand that life’s true purpose is not making ends meet. It’s not finding the perfect soulmate. It’s not about resolving issues with friends or anyone else for that matter. It is not getting a decent car. It is not even feeding ourself correctly or even when we are hungry. It is not going proper accommodations. It is not following our sexual desires and it is definitely not solving the worlds problems. We will always have enough of our own. The purpose of life is not even achievement of goals.

So what is life’s main purpose? Others may think differently and that is why there is so much suffering on this planet. Because the main purpose has nothing to do with where we find ourselves living or what we are doing here. The main purpose is beyond doing. It is being. What is our state of being? How fo we react to all our surroundings and the people in our surroundings? How do we react to our needs and desires? How do we react to pain? Suffering? Hunger? Being to hot or too cold? The only way we can truly act in a conscious and understanding way is by spiritual practices and meditation which will guide our attitudes and experiences in a way that will be helpful for us and the people around us. That means that enlightenment and the path to enlightenment will help us find our true purpose here on this planet.
