Active imagination is a conscious method of experimentation. It employs creative imagination as a method for "perceiving outside your own mental boxes." For the first hundred years of active imagination, it was applied primarily by individuals for exploring their own sub- and unconscious; hence its value in psycho-therapeutic settings.

Active imagination can be used for many discoveries that the unconscious wants us to know. It is one way to get in tune with previous existences by revealing interests from the past that are reoccurring in our life drama. It is important to recognize that the mystery of life has a compelling nature about it to us. That is what keeps us interested and wanting us to be on a mission of self discovery. Ignoring this passion can make life dull and robotic and rob us of our potential for knowledge, understanding and experience.

i'm a member at reincarnation forum and someone started a section called, "cinematic parallels."

i'm at home relaxing and the movie pearl harbor is on in the background. suddenly i was entranced, i found my self putting my laptop away when the japanese were flying over towards hawaii for a sneak attack. seeing the planes in the sky, the bombs underwater, and the bombing of the naval ships and the peoples reaction started producing very intense chills in my spine. hearing the bombs drop i winced and suddenly cried out like a big baby. i felt such a intense sadness pulled out from me.

i can't say i had a past life with pearl harbor or what side i was on... but i do think there were parallels to a possible past life. i have had dreams of being a pilot, lingering nostalgia for pilots and a memory of tumbling in white sheets. i believe the tumbling in white sheets was actually the moment i died from a plane crash similar to the planes in this movie.

i am okay now, still watching the movie in the background... but the sudden emotions are very heavy and still lingering.

maybe it wasn't me, but a shared memory. looking at the people swimming in the water and being shot at from above is harrowing. i was always a gentle giant in this life, and would never wish war upon anyone. i don't think it's cool, and i'm not an eye for an eye kind of guy... it's horrendous.

Sometimes it’s not an eye for an eye but just stopping the aggression of others. I get similar sensations about certain events brought to my attention by past reviews. It’s a way of letting us know what we went through and what we needed to learn through those experiences. People often have the opportunity to dominate others and they do so like wild animals. We has humans have the ability to treat others with kindness and as we would like to be treated. If we do so we spare ourselves future suffering and misery from the consequences of current actions or non actions to the control and domineering of others.

I think sometimes we process hard to explain emotions being connected to past lives and others in our present.

Have you ever had someone spur a spiritual experience out from you? I met a friend once and my innermost self loudly declared, "Joe is lemurian." I didn't know at the time lemurian was an actual race of extraterrestrial biological entities people talk about online. It happened the same way I discovered, "I am Sufi." I never heard the word before and had to research Sufism. But I am clearly an average 6'5 Texan Caucasian who was raised Episcopalian by my Mother. While I don't pretend to be Muslim or partake in the traditional prayer, I do consider Hazrat Inayat Khan a dear friend and spiritual anchor throughout my journey.

One time Joe was standing behind me while I was arranging some items on a shelf. When he spoke, something happened... His voice wasn't his normal voice. And suddenly I saw images of us as children. Our skin tone was different, we were barefoot in red sand leaned up against a clay hut. We were playing a game and laughing. Joe spoke again and I was brought back to, "reality."

But did I experience reality? I think so, and I think the past- present and future are all alive and available to us now. Not only that, I think we can connect with other peoples lives.

One time I had an OBE, I was in a body, in someone else's bedroom. I was noticing my arms- I was either Filipino or Hawaiian. I was admiring the light in the room and noticed my guitar off in the corner. This body had more knowledge with guitar than what I do. This experience only lasted a minute, but it was so real. I am convinced this person is a spiritual anchor for psychic phenomenon and is alive and in the present.

But what about memories of old? I have shared memories with an entity that I once mistook as my own. Maybe it is me, but not Eric the 6'5 Texan Caucasian. These emotions were associated with that of, "fallen angel." I had a vivid moment once in 6th grade where I suddenly felt I was leaving my home planet on a cold ship. I was alone. I had dreams over the years that would help me see, whoever was sharing these memories with me, was alluding to being cast out and angels.

So... Past lives... Or just, lives? We are not alone.
