Master says in AOY and in the current lesson I'm studying that Gandhi had an appendectomy without anesthesia. Hospital records and accounts from Gandhi's secretary contradict this which is a little confronting for me because why would SRF not try to keep truth as a paramount requirement when publishing books and lessons? Master may have just been repeating anecdotal hearsay but shouldn't accuracy in reporting these things supercede the need to drive home spiritual truths with stories that don't have a factual basis?

Quite frankly i would ask SRF since i do think truth is most important. I have not always been satisfied with perceived 'contradictions' ive heard in the Bible as well as from differences ive heard  from Yogamanda's, Amma's and Biblical referemces. This has not weakened my faith but rather has only made me understand that while no Master is 'perfect' in our terms we can question what we hear, read and absorb and find the best explanation our minds can recieve. I continue to wrestle with the mind all my life. Yet when i recieve the souls intution and its satisfying peace i continue to be grateful for the moments and experiences spirit has shown me.

After all Paramahansa Yogananda said he 'argued' with God. So why wouldn't one of us have the option of questioning his representatives and his advice? Does advice - being dictated - always end up typed out correctly? Is what onw person said or heard actually what was meant or said? Amma was asked is the Bible true...her resonse; " Some of it."
