Many thanks for the welcome back Steve. I also feel this peace and inner contentment when meditating in nature. This feeling seems even more deep, when there is water nearby, such as a river flowing. It is so easy to just sit and watch the water flow, as your thoughts flow with the river. It seems I am drawn to the river for reasons I am not sure of.
Perhaps it was the churches that I visited that made the difference in the lack of spiritual connection. I feel drawn to some of the Buddhist ways, there is a calmness and serenity that other religions seem to lack. Have you noticed this ?

What i have noticed is that each of the paths seem to have a certain vibration about them. i would say you are correct about this calmness and serenity you are talking about. However there is a flip side to the coin. Sometimes i sense a coldness and aloofness. It seems to me that every path has its' share of dualities inherent in the search.
