Energy from where?

Often think to myself; what keeps this body we inhabit in motion? What gives us energy to have life. We can see and examine what gives a light energy. We can have mechanical skills to repair and understand the energy that provides motion to a car. However can we get a grasp on what we as humans have or have been given to manifest life?
