I know that Paramahansa Yogananda recommended a little section of a room or a room itself to dedicate to meditation practice to set up vibrational frequencies in that area which are conducive to meditation practice. He also stressed the importance of meditating with others. That has not been as practical recently because of Covid. Who is going to argue with a Master? Thought I would state that before explaining my own preferences.

I have found some people that like meditation in a bath tub. I like to meditate in the shower. Different environments, with for instance; steam, or cold air, that produces the ability to see your breath, often make me more aware of the mantra and keep me focused. There are also places I love to meditate. I always preferred meditation at Forest Lawn where Masters ( Paramahansa Yogananda) crypt lies. Meditation with others, in temples is preferable to me also. The combined energies of more then one person meditating lifts every one.

Sounds often affect the meditation process. As for instance; New Age music, Indian tribal music, stillness, streams, birds, frogs, the wind, the branches and high limbs of trees.

There are places on the earth said to have vortexes where meditation is supported by the earths energy as for instance places in Sedona Arizona. I also find areas in Nature like in the woods, near a stream, in the mountains, by a campfire, high in the dunes, near the ocean, in the desert, next to a large body of water or near large high large trees. They are all helpful in interiorizing my consciousness. When these are not available i try not to be attached to the variety and meditate where ever i can. i remember meditating at rest area and truck stops for years when i drove a truck for a living. Sometimes whatever is practical is what must work.

Paramahansa Yogananda has said that we/I should “ Understand and feel the superior joys of the inner life, and you would prefer them to the fleeting pleasures of the outer world. We must resurrect ourselves from thoughts of anger and thoughts of selfishness, from the clamor of inharmonious living.
