We may ask..how can prayers for others benefit us? But in fact they benefit us before they benefit others. For instance whatching an orphan get fed we gain happiness in the act before the food enters the child’s mouth. We should see another persons problems as our own problems.....

We may ask ourselves why should another persons problems be our problems? However it is much like a fire taking place on the first floor of a hotel when we are on the third floor. We may ignore the problems they are having on that floor but soon the flames will rise and engulf our floor as well if we do not do something to help. In the same way the problems of others are our own and we should take action to help and pray for them.
