Maybe it could be added that purification of the body often seems to be a life long practice.

Recently I have found that the body we inhabit is the source of infinite troubles. Yet we seek pleasure for it. The fact we have bodies is a manifestation of desire. It seems to me that our bodies are the source of all our troubles.

If the body is a bridge to connect us to our inner self, perhaps we should use it as much as we can to serve God’s work and meditate with it.

I would add that, insofar we are not perfectly evolved, the body is the tool by which we can drive soul evolution. The vehicle must be well maintained and kept efficient.
