While helping others is important it is also important to express gratitude for the help and service we receive from others.

"Instead of being left with a dopamine hangover, create new goals before achieving your current one. That ensures a continual flow for experiencing dopamine. As an employer and leader, recognizing the accomplishments of your team, e.g. sending them an email, or giving a bonus, will allow them to have a dopamine hit and increase future motivation and productivity."

I read this in an article. It turns out that there are actual chemicals in the brain that are stimulated by gratitude. Expressing gratitude increases dopamine release which makes those giving and receiving gratitude happier.

When we noticed kindness and other gifts that benefit us our brains become wired to seek out the positives in any situation even dire ones. As a result we're better at bouncing back from loss and trauma. "A grateful stance towards life is relatively immune to both fortune and misfortune," say Emmons. We see the blessings not just the curses. From Time Magazine; 'Mindfulness'

There have been many times in my life I could find very little time to meditate-- and practice spiritual disciplines. I am so thankful that at this time I can!

I saw a sign last night that read, "Get rich quick by counting your blessings"
