Why do people who start meditating want to sit for extraordinarily long times? If one's mind becomes quiet for even one instant, it would extend itself naturally. Forcing oneself to sit for a long time is stupid.
If you are bored during meditation you are doing it wrong.
The Buddha had determination. He refused to move from the bodhi tree 🌳 till he was enlightened and because of this determination something extraordinary happened to him that affected people up till this day. Paramahansa Yogananda recommended long meditations at least once a week to go deeper then usual in the meditation state. The big word u use here is 'if'. While it is true that in one moment the mind will extend. It is also true that in one moment someone can find gold, a lost civilization, or create a beautiful piece of music. The question is this; in what moment this will happen? That is why people devote so much time to what they do. We must constantly observe to see 👀 what we r doing rite or wrong during meditation. Thus the length of practice to determine such things and to improve our knowing.
Many hours of practice is essential to any art form. Meditation is infinitely more subtle. Why would it be any different? If we r bored we must ask ourselves why. Are we expecting something rather then giving something? Are we practicing in such a way that boredom will not b a part of our routine? These r the type of questions we must ask ourselves.
