Isn't it wonderful to find friends we have not seen in years? To suddenly have them return in our lives? i have had that happened and now i can understand the significance of some of these people and what God was trying to show me through them. We can often compare what we have learned through the years and gain so much wisdom from it! U always look at things much different after years of reflection and spiritual insight.

It is quite a feeling to talk to someone you have known all your life. Some people have this affect of creating peace in your soul and relief and understanding in your perceptions. They may have a kindness about them that infiltrates your being and you are soothed by their vibrations. Others are so at war with themselves that it is difficult to be in their presence and there r yet others that u may feel indifferent about.

Sometimes it can b very confusing. When someone treats you so kind but then later reacts to you as though you are a rock... a stone. We have to ask ourselves what would make a human being be this insensitive? What has caused this kind/type of deep sadness and coldness.

Surprisingly i have seen kindness return to such individuals and they have actually said they were sorry. So there is hope. Keep praying for such individuals. You never know when their heart may open again. What i have found is that some people seek control of circumstances and people in their life. This can be one reason. Life is full of changes though we cannot control others and their choices. We have to roll with the changes.

Love is not letting the door hit them on their way out.

Love is not letting the door hit them on their way out.

i really think that is a nice quote. Usually i have a sense of humor about it all. But believe it or not some people may tell you that they would swing the door back at your mouth if u have anything thing left to say. You may find that even your sense of humor is not appreciated.

It is a good one. I can't claim to have originated it. I heard some other wise person use it in a similar context. It is true, though, not mere sarcasm. It is with love and well wishes that we should part ways with people. Because we know sometimes it's the way it has to be.

A sage once said that the people you met in life, as well as the duration of association, is all predetermined and therefore don't regret when the association comes to an end.

I really appreciate your point of view on this b. i can relate your comments to a relationship i had with a dear friend not so long ago  and the circumstances surrounding us. While i do not disagree with some or your points.... i believe i finally hooked onto an understanding of the main purpose of the relationship- that is that there was a gravity and seriousness about it that exceeded any balance that could have manifested common ground and reconciliation as friends. Notice i am not blaming my friend but rather i am talking about an energy field that manifested surrounding us that was a carry over from previous incarnation events. In this sense this tread does not coincide with what your post triggered because it is about the very opposite: friends that never have returned. We can easly look back and see how people-including us- have taken ourselves and circumstances far too seriously.

Brock, That's a fatalistic view in line with your views on the issue. I cannot confirm not deny it, although I sure appreciate the end of it: don't regret when the association comes to an end. Associations come, associations go...

Yes but every time it does i feel i could have done just little bit better and next time and every time i will learn and get better and better at this and being kind so eventually they will not b able to have bad thoughts about me unless it is just a product of their own attitudes. i pray for them all... every day...every person i have had the blessings to b with!

I'm grateful for everyone I've known that has shared the light of Universe into my life, in whatever duration or capacity.

I believe it all happens exactly as it does.

I just wanted to check in and say "hi" Steve, and everyone else on here.  This website and the friendships I've made through it have brought great blessings into my Life, and I am very grateful.  I would be a blind fool not to be grateful.  And I wouldn't be hear without the betrayal of a former friend who I was very close to... one ship sails and others come to shore, the beautiful cycle of Life.  All praise to the One that is All.

Kingfisher, I introduced you here thinking you'd enjoy this space and the company.

You feeling betrayed because something didn't go your way?  Huh?

Thanks kingfisher. Hope u stay around this time around. Haven't heard from u in a while. How is your music coming along and your spiritual life?

What i have found over the years is that circumstances have changed many of my friends attitudes towards me. Sometimes we need to look at these circumstances and the changes. We often find that friends do not circumvent changes in a constructive way.  It is more difficult for me to see when i myself do not roll with the changes. Yet often we have to come to some conclusion within ourselves. It is spiritual nature to try and understand what has happened in our lives; to us and those who have come and left in our lives. To just write it off has something that just happened and now is gone is to diminish the significance of life encounters. In fact every incident is intricately orchestrated the more we r in tune to divine order in our lives.

Kingfisher, I introduced you here thinking you'd enjoy this space and the company.

i find your comment rather interesting Eric. i cannot answer for others but only for myself. If u spend a lot of energy and time with someone and they suddenly leave your life with little or no explanation u must come to terms with it in some way. It does not seem unreasonable to conclude that some betrayal to that time shared has taken place. i mean we r not like disposable cans. Actually if we could see our lives and the many incarnations we have lived we do have a responsibility to how long we associate with others and how we treat them. While it is true that we shouldn't be attached to the outcomes we can and often must come to certain conclusions until we receive further information. It this way we learn to have appropriate responses to situations.

This was the post that started this thread:

i believe that maintaining a certain connection with old friends affirms faith in the continuity of life. We meet again later in life or in some other state or incarnation. But our meetings become very disjointed and hard to facilitate when we separate ourselves intentionally from others out of anger or misunderstandings. We may even notice the difficulty in distance and in circumstances when we first met the person in this life. This is no doubt in part due to the fact that we may have left them or they left us without a harmonious departure in the past. We can always show kindness towards those we have spent significant time with and if they do not show the same we can think of them and pray for them in kindness. i believe that after all is said and appears to b done we can be kind to one another. This element is often missing.  i believe we can still talk if both parties can remain kind and can do so with love. This is the test and the great spiritual challenge we face with others in our spiritual evolution.

Be kind to your past. It is part of your life. Be kind to your memories. Open up you heart and mind. If we have a difficult time looking at others it is also difficult to look at ourselves since we r facing aspects of ourselves in others. When we r able to see the inner beauty in others then we can also see it in ourselves.

Thanks Steve for your insights.  I think I agree with most of what you say, and I especially like this sentence.

I'm now at peace, and just have love for the people who I've been close to and am currently close to.  All blessings.

I also hope I am wiser now to chose to commit to friendships and relationships with people who have proven to be worthy of it.  Clearly, it has been a major lesson for me in this life to do the opposite for a bit.

I'm grateful for opportunities for personal growth, and wish the same for all of you (:
