A phenomen related to binary neutron stars is that of gravitational waves. Gravity spreads out in the space like ripples on a Pond's surface.
Such waves are usually so small to be undetectable, if they were strong they would cause an effect similar to an earthquake.
They've been theorized by Einstein in 1916 .
In 1993, hulse & Taylor were awarded the nobel prize for giving evidence of gravitational waves generated by a binary pulsar system (one is a pulsar, the other si a neutron star which might also be a pulsar with the beam not focused on earth).
